During the last court hearing, Aubrey requested between$15,000 to $20,000 so that he could reportedly maintain a “proper home” for daughter Nahla. In Thursday morning’s court hearing, though, Aubrey upped the ante by also asking for more than $500,000 (yes, you read that right) in order to cover his legal fees.

To Aubrey’s chagrin, though, his request could not be attended to because he hadn’t filled out his paperwork correctly. TMZ adds:

Gabriel was extremely upset the matter was put off.

While it hasn’t been reported yet when court proceedings will resume, one thing is clear, Berry will do all that she can to wrestle joint custody from Aubrey. If she is able to gain full custody, then obviously, Aubrey will not be able to claim a single dime. If Berry doesn’t, though, she will have a stiff price to pay.

She also has one daughter, Nahla, from a previous relationship with model Gabriel Aubrey. Unfortunately, none of Berry’s high-profile relationships ended well. Her marriage to Justice ended amidst allegations of abuse and she called it off with Benet after she discovered that he had been unfaithful throughout their brief marriage.

Her relationship with Aubrey also ended with it’s fair share of controversy. He is currently trying to gain joint physical custody and spousal support from Berry to keep he and Nahla accustomed to the life that Berry provided for them, reports EOnline.

Berry was first seen flashing her emerald engagement ring over the Christmas holiday — and she’s been spotted with a smile on her face since the beginning of her relationship with Martinez. Here’s to hoping that she’s finally found her Prince Charming.

On December 30, Aubrey filed for joint custody of Nahla, requesting that the court formally recognize him as the Father. Berry also formally agreed to Aubrey’s fatherhood claim. With his joint status, though, he can request to receive child support from Berry, but what he’s asking for may seem dubious to some.

Aubrey is now reportedly asking the courts to force Berry to give him between $15,000 to $20,000 a month in child support, because, Nahla needs “to live in surroundings to which she has become accustomed.” This money, in part, is needed for Nahla’s clothes and their visits to Canada to visit his family.

Halle should totally pay for that, don’t you think?

Obviously, Berry isn’t taking his latest request laying down. In preparation, she supplanted longtime lawyer, Neal Hersch, with the reported tougher-than-nails Stephen Kolodny, who represented Mel Gibson in his marital warfare with Oksana Grigorieva, late last month.

With her new representation, Berry has been able to paint Aubrey as an unfit Dad. The family judge recently ruled that Nahla can only be in the presence of her father when a monitor is present. Berry and her legal team will likely continue to disparage Aubrey’s capabilities as a parent, with the hopes of foiling his joint custody filing.

If Aubrey isn’t able to get joint custody, then he will also not be able to cash in on his sizable child support demands.

And the plot continues to thicken.

TMZ reports:

Sources tell us Gabriel is livid because he believes the move is punitive and designed to strip him of any contact with his daughter. And Gabriel is particularly upset because Halle’s longtime boyfriend Olivier Martinez will be living with Halle and Nahla if the move is approved.

After Aubry and Berry split up in April of 2010, the custody battle began by the end of that year. Initially, Aubry filed for joint physical and legal custody of the child, but then Berry’s rep told People magazine that she had “serious concerns for her daughter’s well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her.”

Aubry quickly answered back with a statement through his representative:

The fact is that Gabriel is a caring father who shares custody of Nahla. Gabriel fully believes that a consistent and balanced living situation and two loving parents are crucial for their child even if Ms. Berry feels otherwise,” the statement continues. “He will always defend his rights as a father and will always consider Nahla’s best interest. Halle’s continuing allegations in the press are untrue and irresponsible.

And this was just the start of accusations. Soon, it came out that Aubry allegedly called Berry the N-word and a “f*cking b*tch” during their relationship. The latest spat, though, came last month, when Aubry allegedly shoved the nanny after she showed up at his residence inquiring why the girl wasn’t at school.The nanny filed a report and Aubry later agreed to anger management classes.

Time will tell whether Berry will be allowed to move to France, but if Aubry has any say in the matter, it is likely she will not be allowed to.

The actor and model allegedly physically and verbally abused his child’s nanny while the little girl was in her arms.

According to a police report, Aubry, who has been embroiled with Berry in a bitter custody war since the spring of 2010, was supposed to take his child to pre-school last Wednesday but kept her home.  When the nanny went to pick up 3-year-old Nahla from school, she was informed that the child did not attend. The caregiver then went to Aubry’s home to investigate why the child had been kept out of school and a heated confrontation ensued.

An unnamed source revealed to TMZ that the war of words took a bad turn when the 6’4″ Aubry allegedly shoved the 5’2″ nanny “out the door so hard that she hit the wall while she had Nahla in her arms” as she tried to leave the French Canadian’s home.

The source also states that Aubry was yelling at the top of his lungs and had no regard for the foul language that he was spewing in front of his little girl:

You’re the f***ing nanny.  Who do you think you are?  You are a nobody.  You don’t need to f***ing know anything!

The 36-year-old unidentified nanny, who is also claiming that she was injured as a result of the push, is alleging that Aubry’s abuse toward her has been ongoing and she is quitting her job because of it.

A hearing will be held Tuesday at the Los Angeles courthouse, and Berry, who is away filming in Spain, is flying back to attend.  Child protective services is also launching their own child endangerment probe as well.

What set off the uncontrolled yapping about the pre-nuptials was the fact that Berry has been sporting a sparkler with emeralds and diamonds.  The eye-catching bling, which Berry just happens to wear on her left ring finger, caught the attention of some paparazzi around the holidays and all bets were off.

The word on the street is that Martinez, who was once notorious for being a suave womanizer, had gifted the ring to his latest love but not as a token of their engagement. Sources did reveal that Berry and Martinez are indeed committed to each other but won’t be taking a trip down any aisle in the near future.

Meanwhile, Berry hasn’t been tight-lipped about the fact that she is a “stinker at marriage,” having gone that route unsuccessfully twice before with baseball player David Justice and crooner Eric Benét.  Both marriages ended acrimoniously.  Berry’s marriage to Justice ended amid accusations of domestic abuse, then a suicide attempt by the actress.  Berry’s union with Benét ended, when she found out that he was supposedly a “sex addict.”

After a 5-year relationship with her child’s father, Gabriel Aubrey, Berry pulled the plug on their commitment to each other, when there was again talk of cheating on his end and alleged verbal abuse.  The couple wound up duking it out in court over custody rights.

So is it any surprise that Berry is gun-shy about tying the knot a third go-round?

Berry and Martinez met nearly two years ago during the filming of “Dark Tide,” when they worked opposite each other.  They went public with their romance in fall of 2010.

Martinez, 46, who was born in Paris and whose dad was a well-known professional Spanish boxer, has been pegged a casanova of sorts, dating a string of professional models, actresses, and top female industry bigwigs.

He has been linked to such entertainers as Mira Sorvino and English model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.  Pop singer Kylie Minogue dated Martinez for a few years, and when she battled breast cancer, he stood by her side before they parted ways in 2007.

As for Berry, 45, a walk down the aisle with Martinez would make it a third trip.  Over the years, the Academy Award-winning actress has endured abusive relationships, one which left her partially deaf in one ear. Marriage to former baseball player Dave Justice in 1993, she claims, drove her to a much-publicized suicide attempt.  After getting hitched to second husband, R&B crooner Eric Benét, in 2001, Berry alleged that he was a sex addict.

Berry, who has admitted publicly that she “stinks at marriage,” tried love again with easy-on-the-eye actor/model Gabriel Aubrey, after her divorce from Benét in 2005.  The couple hung in there for five years and produced a daughter, 3-year-old Nahla.  In 2010, the couple split and their bitter media circus breakup resulted in a nasty custody court battle, where there were allegations of verbal threats, racial slurs and concerns for the child’s well-being voiced by both parties.

Berry and Aubry are currently in court for a custody battle over their three-year-old daughter, Nahla.

He screamed that she was a ‘’ghetto n****r’’ and threw a chair against the wall,’ the witness is quoted as saying. ‘Halle was shaken and sobbing.’

Gabriel hated that Nahla was mixed race,’ a colleague of Halle’s claimed according to The Star. ‘He never wanted her hair to be braided, and he always said that Nahla was white.

The couple’s troubles became public in December when Berry reportedly became alarmed when their daughter Nahla became hysterical when Aubrey came to pick her up for a visit a few days before Christmas.

I was not part of the contingent that thought the movie Precious was an outright disgrace, embarrassment, and slap in the face to Black people. I had read the book Push, by Sapphire—which the movie Precious is based on—and the book, to me, was about as unsettling as anything that I had ever read.

So when the movie came out, I was actually a bit relieved. I thought Lee Daniels (who I’m usually not a super-fan of) did an excellent job and I gave the movie about a 7 on a scale of 1-10 mostly because I was blown away by the acting.

Learning that star Gabourey Sidibe is some geeky little schoolgirl and not the simultaneously menacing bully and molestation victim that she played onscreen was a revelation.

Mariah Carey was downright ugly, yet somehow, strangely sexier.

Lenny Kravitz was amazing, non-glam rock and all.

Paula Patton was solid if a little everyday chic to be a special education teacher in Harlem.

And the girls that played Precious’ classmates were all cute enough, weird enough or interesting enough to make the film work.

Then there was Mo’Nique.

Mo’Nique is hilarious. She’s the best host the BET Awards ever had and her full-voiced rants that tackle everything from her hatred of skinny women to her own hairy legs are legendary.

So to watch Mo’Nique play ‘Mary’, a woman so self-absorbed that she considers her daughter’s rape to be an affront to her own sovereignty, was incredible. She threw a baby on the floor in one scene! In another, she forced her own daughter to do the sexually unthinkable.

Sometimes we Black people can get in a huff about depictions of ourselves that we consider to be less than favorable as if it was our low Q Rating that caused the transatlantic slave trade.

But, whatever.

I’m one of those people that believe that once an actor or an actress wins an Oscar, it forces film fans to take a re-enhanced view of all of that actor or actor’s previous film work.

So now, as with what Jamie Foxx’s Oscar win did for Booty Call and what Halle Berry’s Oscar win did for B.A.P.S., Mo’Nique’s win calls for a critical reexamination of both Phat Girlz and Soul Plane.

All kidding aside, there has simply not been a better acting performance in a number of years than Mo’Nique’s work in Precious.

She’s now a serious actress.

I just hope not too serious.

Dorothy Dandridge was the first black woman nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. Almost a half century passed before another black woman — Halle Berry — won the award.

They and three others — Pam Grier, Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey — are subjects of the new book “Divas on Screen: Black Women in American Film.”

“These women have pushed the racial boundaries for audiences, setting new standards for beauty and body type,” said author Mia Mask.

She took on the book because, while black male stars are now enjoying huge success, little has been written about their female counterparts — as performers who can headline a film, said Mask, who teaches film and drama at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Dandridge was nominated for her lead role as the hedonistic factory worker in the 1954 classic “Carmen Jones,” alongside Harry Belafonte.

Berry won an Oscar in 2000 for playing the wife of an executed murderer in “Monster’s Ball.” She also had portrayed Dandridge as a stunning femme fatale in a 1999 HBO film about Dandridge’s life.

When Dandridge became a star, “she was working in an environment in which there were almost no women of color (in leading roles),” said Mask, and Dandridge “had to fit into the mold of shapely and svelte.”

By the time the statuesque Grier arrived on the Hollywood scene, she could break that mold with her forceful but hip physical presence as an action heroine.

As for Winfrey, Mask said she chose her because the talk-show host’s television presence catapulted her film appearances to the level of global stardom, transcending any category.

In spite of vast changes, Mask said, sore points persist in casting black women for star roles: a paucity of quality parts, and a new trend of pairing black lead actors with female leads who are not.

“Studio heads don’t think two black characters will appeal to general audiences,” said Mask.

She chose Dandridge and Berry “as bookends” for the time span that transformed black women in commercial films.

“We’ve gone from the trope of the tragic mulatta to biracial beauty,” said Mask, who is taping a five-part series for National Public Radio to air in late October — each on one of the women in the book.

Actress and former Sexiest Woman Alive Halle Berry, 43, is expecting her second child with model Gabriel Aubry, Life & Style magazine reported Tuesday.

A source close to the couple told the magazine Berry used artificial insemination to conceive. Her first daughter, Nahla, who was born in 2007, was conceived through in vitro fertilization after Berry took more than 30 negative pregnancy tests trying to have her first baby.
