And he’s right, Limbaugh added, they do that well.  Mom and Dad and the two kids.  It’s a good-looking family.

Limbaugh then went in on the First Family, stating that Mrs. Obama needs to get rid of her nutritional standards to combat childhood obesity.

That’s not the kind of teamwork, you see, that the people of this country want.  They don’t want their government telling them what they cannot eat.  They don’t want the government telling them what they must eat.  Even little leftist robot kids don’t.

Then in a really insulting remark, Limbaugh went back to the hypocritical Republican position that poor people simply need to learn family values:

You know, the best thing Michelle Obama could do — and I’m not joking here — the best thing Michelle Obama could do for people in poverty is to simply highlight the solid nuclear family that she has with her husband, Barack, and the two kids.

It’s easy to see why Limbaugh wouldn’t be happy about Michelle Obama’s nutritional standards: She and her family are healthy, and Rush Limbaugh is not.  The poor man has fought with obesity, drug addiction, and nearly every other symbol of a gluttonous, self-absorbed life.  His position on disciplined family values is heavily contradicted by the way he’s lived his own life — but that’s essentially what makes him a good Republican.

Limbaugh is correct that the Obamas have the kind of family that even most Republicans can’t criticize.  They are not defying the norms of the Black family; they are reflecting them.  Millions of Black families across America consist of good, normal people who want to do what’s best for their children.  Limbaugh’s code language involving the use of words like “poor,” “urban,” and “unprivileged,” are nothing more than modern day manifestations of the same old self-righteous racism that has held our country back for the last 400 years.

Limbaugh may want to take time to reflect on his own values.  If every poor family in America decided to take on the ethical disposition of Rush Limbaugh, then God help us all.  The man almost went to prison for his drug addiction for goodness sake, and it’s amazing that so many Republicans are listening to him.

The criticism was based on a Halloween party the Obama family had in 2009 that was designed by director, Tim Burton. Limbaugh attacked the Obama family for living lavishly in the White House because they believed theywere  owed the lifestyle because of what was done to their ancestors (slavery).

The Huffington Post reports:

“No way the press didn’t know about this,” he said. “If we didn’t know about this, what else is going on in there that we didn’t know about… that the press knows about but is choosing not to report?”

Limbaugh also raised the subject of slavery and Jim Crow when he analyzed the Obamas’ behavior in office. He said that the couple viewed their tenure as an opportunity to “live high on the hog,” and that the idea that they were “owed this because of what’s been done to us and our ancestors” was “part of” their thinking.

Limbaugh defended the booers, claiming that they had a right to do so, considering her healthy eating initiatives and vacations, accusing her of “uppity-ism.”

The term “uppity” has historically been used to describe African-Americans who didn’t know their place.

“I’ll tell you something else — we don’t like paying millions of dollars for Mrs. Obama’s vacations,” he said. “The NASCAR crowd doesn’t quite understand why, when the husband and the wife are going the same place, the first lady has to take her own Boeing 757 with family and kids and hangers-on four hours earlier than her husband, who will be on his 747. NASCAR people understand that’s a little bit of a waste. They understand it is a little bit of uppity-ism. First ladies have not been known to hop their own 757s four hours ahead of their husband when they’re going the same place.”

Limbaugh called the Politico article a “hit job” and an “unconscionable, racially stereotypical attack.”

The story details how two women who worked under Cain during his tenure leading the National Restaurant Association, and that there was a financial settlement with the women in order for them to drop the story.

The notion that the media treats black conservatives more harshly than black liberals or Democrats is one of Limbaugh’s frequent themes. He wondered aloud what would happen if the story had been about President Obama. The media, he said, would have attacked the unnamed women in the story.

“They would name names and they would destroy them.” he said.

Limbaugh lambasted the former Massachusetts governor  telling his radio audience,  ”Romney is not a conservative. He’s not, folks.”

He continued his assault attacking Romney’s gubernatorial record and his positions on healthcare and the environment.

Sure, you can point out that Massachusetts is a liberal state, but “there’s gonna be a lot of liberal pressure on whoever our president is: media, Democrat members of Congress that the media’s gonna fawn all over.” So let’s not settle on a candidate just yet—even though “the Republican establishment’s trying to nail this down and end it.”

Rev. Al Sharpton struck back at radio host Rush Limbaugh last night after the conservative commentator made fun of Sharpton’s teleprompter flub on MSNBC this past Tuesday.

Sharpton had trouble pronouncing the words “we must resist” before immediately moving on to his fellow host Ed Schultz.

Conservative commentators crowed about the gaffe, but none more so than Limbaugh who had his own theories as to why this happened.

Of course, over time, I’ve done much more reading and one of the things I’ve come across that’s given the aforementioned weird perspective at least a little grounding in history for me has been discovering just how rampant homosexuality was among the founders of what we now consider to be “civilization”.

Yes, those great Greeks that reportedly “invented” democracy also had very little interest in women and used them primarily as “breeding sows” (their term).

The main sexual interest of the Greeks—and I’m talking all the big shots here, Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Alexander the Great, was young boys.

In fact, a 12 year-old boy was supposed to have the ideal sexual body.

So to say that a woman has “an ass like a 10 year-old boy” could actually be considered a compliment by that line of thinking because you’re essentially saying that she’s just ripening.

How’d this all begin to change?

Well, the irony is that Catholicism—which is now considered to be almost synonymous with homosexual pedophilia—actually did away with that day’s indifference to homosexuality by making it a “sin”.

Still, when you see some boy-bodied female model in a fashion industry run and controlled by gay white men, it’s easy to believe that that line of thinking hasn’t completely disappeared.

But RK Byers, what is your point?

And how fool, if it does at all, does it relate to Black women?

Well, all I’m saying is this: to my knowledge, I’m not a descendant of Greeks. Nor are most Black people that I know. And luckily, Black and white tastes in the female form don’t run parallel.

So it would probably be in our better interest to judge Black women’s bodies along our own scale.

This isn’t to say that some bloated pig should get a pass just cause she’s a Black woman. This is, however, to allow for the things that we like, like some hips and some booty.

I write all this because that porcine lunatic Rush Limbaugh just attempted to slight our first lady Michelle Obama as being overweight because she indeed has a couple of our favorites: hips and booty.

Rush, we know what your ideal sex partner is, and like Austin Powers would say, “It’s a man, man!”

SAN FRANCISCO — A California lawmaker is calling for a boycott of companies that advertise on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show after the conservative commentator refused to apologize for mocking China’s president.

State Sen. Leland Yee launched the campaign after Limbaugh’s Jan. 19 radio program, during which he did a nonsensical impression of Chinese President Hu Jintao’s speech with President Barack Obama, the San Mateo County Times newspaper reported Wednesday.

After Yee complained about Limbaugh’s crude imitation, Limbaugh poked fun at the Chinese-American lawmaker, who’s running for mayor of San Francisco.

Limbaugh did not immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment from The Associated Press.

Yee told the newspaper that Limbaugh’s actions were “extremely hurtful” and damaging for children to hear.

Yee reached out to civil rights organizations Tuesday and launched an online petition asking people to join the boycott.

The lawmaker said he received a racist threat that was faxed by someone who appeared to be a Limbaugh supporter. Yee’s office sent out a copy of the alleged fax to the media.

We weren’t enslaved and Jim Crow-ed and beaten, raped and murdered because we have a negative image.

We have a negative image because we were enslaved and Jim Crow-ed and beaten, raped and murdered.

By American logic, if we were a stronger people, we wouldn’t have allowed all that to happen.

If history has shown us anything, it’s that from Hitler to Manson to Limbaugh, white people have had have the majority of the most deranged lunatics ever.

Yet white people are able to point at them too and say, “Look! Look at those crazy nuts!” as if in their case, sharing the same skin color as a madman is as completely incidental as if they were wearing the same colored socks.

I mean c’mon: Pontius Pilate, a Roman, washed his hands of the death of Jesus for Christsakes (pun intended) and I’m supposed to believe that some random crackhead or pick-pocket or drive-by shooter makes me look bad?

Washington (AP)– Rush Limbaugh chose to use racially insensitive terminology to attack South Carolina congressman James Clyburn and Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Referring to the movie “Driving Miss Daisy” and segregation, he belittled Clyburn and Pelosi:

Clyburn has had power, but they want to take it away from him here. Tavis Smiley is not down with this. Clyburn starts to demand respect and all hell seems to break loose in the Democrat Party. Hey, I have a suggestion. You know, I like to mediate these things. I like to bring people together. I like to unify people. I don’t like seeing this kind of strife. Clyburn’s worried about not having the car. Clyburn’s worried about not having the perk of a big office, driver, and so forth. The way this can all be worked out, Clyburn’s new position: Driving Miss Nancy. He gets to keep the car. He gets to go everywhere she goes, parties and everything else. As I’ve traveled from state to state over the years, I’ve heard folks saying that “we need another Malcolm, we need another Martin,” as if dynamic hip-hop generational leaders like Malia Lazu, Ras Baraka, April Silver, Shani Jamila, and Brian Echols don’t even exist. In fact, I can easily count off 100 such leaders from coast to coast—all of who are doing incredible work in their communities.

We seem to have forgotten the old axiom that all movements are local. Black America has been pining for a national savior since the Civil Rights Movement came to a screeching halt in the 1970s. Apart from our flirtations with Rev. Jesse Jackson and Min. Louis Farrakhan in the 1980s and 90s, we’ve been stuck in the wilderness without any sort of national Black leadership model for forty long and difficult years.

Want to know why large pockets of Black America remain in great despair despite all our amazing post-Civil Rights era advances? Well, look no further than the incredible lack of vision and imagination of our Black leaders—be they elected officials, ministers and imams, public intellectuals, heads of social service organizations, educators, entrepreneurs, or grassroots activists.

Black American leadership has been in a state of arrested development since the days of Fannie Lou Hamer, Ella Baker, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Angela Davis, and the Black Panther Party. But some leaders were killed or driven mad by those times, while others wound up in jail or sold out their principles for access to the American dream, for themselves and their immediate circle, rather than for us all. Little wonder, then, that so many of us have pinned our dreams on Barack Obama in 2008. Someone like him was a long time a-coming.

But, no, President Barack Obama is not a Black leader; he is the President of the United States of America. Not the President of Black America, or of hip-hop America, or of young America. Just America. And therein lies the great irony of Mr. Obama being the first Black president in American history. There is this great expectation that President Obama will be that liberator for us, the modern-day Malcolm X-meets-Dr. King, with a swagger that fuses the jazz of John Coltrane and the hip hop of Jay-Z.

But some in Black America have been hard on President Obama for not being, well, Black enough for their taste. Part of the reason for this feeling is the huge void in visionary Black leadership. We’ve been stuck in this vacuum for so long that we expect Mr. Obama to fill it up for us. We expect him to tell it like it is on race and racism, and fulfill all the needs of Black America.

That is not only completely unfair to Mr. Obama, but it speaks of the desperation surrounding our lack of leadership. Many of us are still searching for the sort of leader that has never existed in the White House, or in the statehouse, or in any city’s City Hall.

Meanwhile, we ourselves are scattered, unfocused, and constantly reacting instead of being proactive. We react to the police murders of Sean Bell (New York) and Oscar Grant (the Bay Area), to the Tea Party, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh, and to gentrification, mass unemployment and mass incarceration, but where are our proactive local and national agendas?

Yes, no doubt racism is alive and well in America. In spite of all its proclamations to the contrary, America has never had the kind of national conversation about race we truly need. This is not a matter of somebody just giving a speech, no matter how eloquent. What we require is something akin to the truth and reconciliation commission established in South Africa after the fall of apartheid.

But what armchair critics of Barack Obama fail to grasp, in historical terms, is that it has always been the people, not the person in the White House, who pushed our nation forward. If there were no abolitionist movement led by the likes of Frederick Douglass, then there would have been no Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln. Without A. Phillip Randolph and others threatening a massive protest in Washington, then Franklin Roosevelt would not have banned discrimination within World War II industries. And with no Civil Rights Movement, there would be no Civil Rights Bill in 1964 and no Voting Rights Act in 1965.

Whoever has occupied the White House has always had to face harsh critics. And W.E.B. DuBois, an intellectual giant who lived well into his 90s, was chief among them. But current sideline critics and some of these multimedia hustlers posing as intellectuals ought to study DuBois a bit more closely. Not only was he a scholar, a prolific writer, and a true renaissance man interacting with Black people globally, but he also helped to build institutions that served the people, including the N.A.A.C.P. He didn’t just dog out a sitting president and leave it there.

DuBois understood that talk can be wonderful, but nothing beats action. And that’s the principle behind the N.A.A.C.P. before that organization went adrift. A strong difference of opinion on the best way to deal with racism is what led DuBois out of the N.A.A.C.P. in the mid-1930s. Here’s a small part of his stinging critique:

“Today this organization, which has been great and effective for nearly a quarter of a century, finds itself in a time of crisis and change, without a program, without effective organization, without executive officers who have either the ability or disposition to guide [it] in the right direction.”

Sound familiar?

DuBois was addressing the need for Black institutions of all kinds. Something that is still badly needed in Black America in 2010.

No wonder we are at such a crossroads in Black American history. On the one hand we have groups like the N.A.A.C.P., which seem so spooked by right-wing zealots that they allow a Shirley Sherrod to go down without making sure the people hear the truth, or even listen to her entire speech. On the other end of the spectrum are all the Barack-haters, folks who never seem to miss an opportunity to verbally assault the President every chance they get. That would include certain motor-mouth Black Ph.D.s, and the sort of media pundits who have much to say about the Black community, but who are rarely ever seen in any Black community except when it’s time for a drive-by photo opportunity.

All this noise makes for great headlines and television ratings, but does absolutely nothing to empower Black America.

It really is a sad joke. Doubly sad when you consider the many challenges we face, including the HIV/AIDS pandemic, nonstop violence in all forms, serious health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity, and the lack of respect afforded to both our elders and our youth.

Black leadership will continue to be dead if we waste our time heaving hate at Barack Obama, or waiting for him to solve all our problems. We ourselves must rise to meet the challenge. The question is what are you doing, in your local community, on a consistent basis, to build or support institutions that help our people to help themselves?

My job as a leader, and your job, too—if you care enough—is to support true visionary leaders. Folks like Charlie Braxton in Jackson, Mississippi—a handicapped Black man who works day to day, thanklessly and often anonymously, with and for the people. I have seen Charlie bring feuding gang members together, mentor all kinds of young people, create one business after another, and serve as a beacon of light for a community where so many other lights are dimmed.

That is the new model of Black leadership in the twenty-first century: build or maintain institutions that provide direct service, resources, and information to our communities; change, once and for all, how we discuss the many challenges facing our people; and be on the front lines with the people as much as possible.

When we can do that—and identify and support more who do—then we in Black America will have a real shot of getting out of this wilderness. But if we do not, then it will be another long 40 years looking for a Moses who may never come.

The communist connection is an old way of dealing with black leaders. They used it on Martin Luther King, they’re using it on Barack Obama and Limbaugh used it on Nelson Mandela. By siding with the racist apartheid regime over a world-wide symbol of peace and freedom, Limbaugh has shown he’s a global racist.

3. “Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

Limbaugh is once again fear mongering and race baiting by associating professional black athletes with criminals and gangmembers. He continues the fear mongering association of good, decent, hard working African Americans as criminals.

Now Limbaugh is saying that an organization with a storied tradition of representing the positive black people for change in their communities are criminals and rioters. An organization that has been represented by intelligent professional African Americans, that has played a part in the Civil Rights movement and continues to be an intelligent, concerned voice for the African American community is degraded to common criminals. There you go Rush. Keep racism alive!!!!

Decent human beings care Rush. Someone out of that 12% is the President of the United States. Not caring about black people? Even George Bush wouldn’t admit to that.

Okay, Rush, that’s classy. The old African bone in the nose stereotype. Wasn’t funny when the racist white school kids called the black kids that and it’s definitely not funny when a grown man with audience of millions of easily influenced dittoheads says it either.

7.  ”I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well.  They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well.  I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.”

I wasn’t super offended by this, the whole black quarterback/coach thing has been going on for years in sports, but the quote was so offensive that Retired General Wesley Clarke said:

There can be no excuse for such statements. Mr. Limbaugh has the right to say whatever he wants, but ABC and ESPN have no obligation to sponsor such hateful and ignorant speech. Mr. Limbaugh should be fired immediately.

When a respected, retired general condemns the statement of a sportscaster, you know he’s gone too far.

8. Limbaugh’s many attacks on Obama.

Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not Black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for Black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

So Rush Limbaugh has managed to make racist attacks on four of the most admired and respected people of African descent in the past one hundred years, in Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell and Barack Obama. He has claimed that Joe the Plumber, who isn’t even a plumber is more important in this election than Colin Powell, a decorated military veteran who has served honorably in three administrations. How can the Republican party stand by this man and let their candidates appear on his show? Rush Limbaugh’s comments are so racist, they’re funny, in a Borat, Archie Bunker kind of way. What is not funny is the millions of dittoheads who listen to him, who take in and re-spout all the racist rhetoric that he spits. Limbaugh’s statements are echoed in the racist, angry Palin/McCain supporters who shout ‘kill him,’ ‘terrorist,’ ‘communist,’ ‘traitor,’ ‘socialist’ and ‘off with his head.’

9. “We need segregated buses… This is Obama’s America.”

So everything Obama is doing is a big plot to give money to Black people. Any evidence? Stop the racist fear-mongering.

THE TWO CONTESTED QUOTES

We ran these two quotes as part of our original list of ten. However, in the fall of 2009, this post surfaced in the debate that followed Limbaugh’s dismissal from an investment group attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams. NewsOne has, as yet, not been able to determine the veracity of these quotes.  We note the following for the record:

• These two quotes were both sourced to a book by Jack Huberman called “101 People Who Are Really Screwing America,” published by Nation Books in 2006. The author of this book, in turn, claims that he procured these quotes from a source which he has refused to reveal “on advice of counsel.”
• Rush Limbaugh has vigorously denied that he said these things.

In sum, NewsOne can no longer vouch for the accuracy of these quotes. Nor can we trust Limbaugh, who never denied saying the other eight racist quotes on our original list, and whose own track record of duplicity gives us pause.  We keep them in our post for their news value as a controversial, and perhaps dubious attribution. Segregated, of course. Which should make some people very happy.

The most ridiculous contention that William Styron reaches in his laughably bad Confessions of Nat Turner is that slave rebellions were totally unnatural for Black people.

Styron seemed shocked, not only at the organization necessary for Turner’s rebellion to be the success that it became, but also at the fact that Negroes bore the type of animosity towards slavery necessary to rebel in the first place.

It’s this mind state which is and has been, if not prevalent, than certainly consistent in the American psyche for possibly as long as Blacks and whites have shared these shores.

You find it at the heart of statements like “Lincoln freed the slaves” and when certain whites speak of the abolition of Jim Crow and the attainment of Civil Rights as something that they worked for.

This isn’t, of course, to suggest that no white people were ever involved in the cause of Black rights, it’s just that far too often, the cause of Black rights is seen as something that was done for us and not, appropriately, something done primarily by us and done for the betterment of the country overall.

Dr. King gambled that non-violence would be the best approach towards winning equal rights and in an almost Pyrrhic way, his gamble paid off.

What used to anger me before I studied up on the subject and what probably angered many other Black people before they did their own research was the notion of being a member of a race that was continually bashed in the head without retaliation.

It got so bad that there was a time, sadly I must admit, that I joyfully read of any slave rebellion that ended in the spilling of white blood and also got borderline giddy at any mention of Jim Crow-ear Black violence towards whites, believing, as I was led to, that this was a rarity.

Of course by now most of us know that the reason for the lack of literary documentation of Black violence against our then-oppressors is to convince us that we are a long-suffering people for whom our salvation was to be found in the faces of the same folks that enslaved us.

But dig; isn’t it an amazing irony that now when we hear of Blacks committing violent crimes against whites, people like me cringe while the Rush Limbaughs of the world behave as if it’s totally natural?

Rush Limbaugh has written an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal titled “Liberals and the Violence Card.”

The crux of the op-ed is that conservative protests like the tea-party are not driven by hate but “by a love of what America stands for.” In making his argument, Limbaugh attacks Presidents Obama and Clinton and responds to TIME’s Joe Klein, who last week accused him of sedition.

“Like the millions of citizens who’ve peacefully risen up and attended thousands of rallies in protest, I seek nothing more than the preservation of the social contract that undergirds our society,” Limbaugh wrote. “I do not hate the government, as the left does when it is not running it. I love this country. And because I do, I insist that the temporary inhabitants of high political office comply with the Constitution, honor our God-given unalienable rights, and respect our hard-earned private property. For this I am called seditious, among other things, by some of the very people who’ve condemned this society?”

Limbaugh also responds directly to President Clinton, who in a speech last week tied the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing to anger incited by “talk radio” hosts like Limbaugh.

“You know, a couple of days after the health care bill had been signed into law, Obama ran around all over the country saying, “Hey, you know, I’m looking around. The earth hadn’t opened up. No Armageddon out there. The birds are still chirping.

I think the earth has opened up. God may have replied. This volcano in Iceland has grounded more airplanes – airspace has more affected – than even after 9/11 because of this plume, because of this ash cloud over Northern and Western Europe. … It’s got everybody just in a shutdown. Earth has opened up. I don’t know whether it’s a rebirth or Armageddon. Hopefully it’s a rebirth, God speaking…”

I am writing this open letter today to ask you to honest with your thoughts. Many of you are using code words such as: Communist, Socialist, Marxist or other phrases such as “we want our country back”. Many Americans of Caucasian descent listen to and follow Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh on an every day basis. These are some of the main perpetrators of this code language involving the President and many African Americans in this country. I issue this challenge to the three stogies and any of their counter parts to a presidential style debate on the issues.

When I hear the code words that you all are using such as: We want our country back, isn’t this all of our country? If my history is correct my ancestors helped to create this country as we know it today. Even in slavery time we created inventions and a work force that fueled the economic development of this country. So whose country is it anyway? Some of you make the argument that we need to get back to the constitution, what the framers of the constitution had in mind. Again, if my history is correct the framers never had the poor or the blacks in mind when they were framing the constitution. So I ask you again, stop speaking in code and just say what you feel. You cannot take a black man being president of the United States.

Furthermore, I often wonder, are the powers that be in the media trying to stir this hatred in our country for our president? When I look at the television I see no African Americans with a show like either of the three above or any show that is an opinion based show. Surely there is some qualified African American who could combine political facts with opinions.

One who speaks what he means

Rush Limbaugh recently discussed Professor Charles Ogletree’s statement on the Rachel Maddow Show which implied that Palin was deriding Obama by referring to him as a Professor. He went into a long discussion about Clarence Thomas and the word “uppity,” before calling Obama “uppity.”

Here’s what Limbaugh had to say

A bunch of white people who thought electing a black president would assuage all of their guilt and erase our racial past voted for Obama. They couldn’t of cared less what he thought, what he said. He didn’t think of his as uppity, they were being selfish. They didn’t like feeling guilty over our racists past, slavery, and so they thought pulling the lever for Obama would absolve them. It wasn’t for his policies, as we are now quickly learning.

What Clarence Thomas meant by uppity, meaning he wasn’t a liberal black. When Clarence Thomas said uppity black thinks for himself means he’s off the reservation, so to speak. He’s not following the civil rights speech codes set forth by the Reverend Jackson and Al Sharpton and whoever else is in charge of them. But nobody — Obama is uppity, but not as a black. He is an elitist. He does think he’s smarter and better than everybody else. That’s what he was taught. He’s a Harvard man.

Given Limbaugh’s logic, wouldn’t that make both George Bushs and Dick Cheney “uppity” as well seeing as how they went to Harvard and Yale?

Top 10 Rush Limbaugh Racist Quotes | News One

After the recent Fort Hood shootings, right wing pundits called for Muslims in the military to be investigated and in some cases barred from the military.

Imagine If an Arab or Islamic person with military training, who referred to himself as a terrorist and made several videos calling for the downfall of the U.S. government, was charged with raping a 7 year old? Can you imagine the uproar the Fox News would make? Now imagine that police found a grenade launcher in his house, connections to explosives dealers and bomb sniffing dogs determined that he was storing explosives. What if he said he joined the military for “training and (to) become one of those domestic terrorists that you’re so afraid of from the DHS reports.”

The problem is Charles Dyer, the man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl, isn’t Arab or Islamic.  He is however, a self-proclaimed domestic terrorist closely who is charged with possessing a high powered grenade launcher stolen from a military facility. Dyer’s ideas and background are quite different than those of Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, but they are quite similar to those of notorious American domestic terrorists, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols.

For years, right wing, white supremacist extremists have been infiltrating the military. Two of the most famous right wing military veterans, Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh, were responsible for the biggest terrorist attack in the United States previous to 9/11, killing 168 people including small 19 children in an attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City.

Like McVeigh and Nichols, Dyer is a military veteran. Like McVeigh and Nicols, Dyer affiliated himself  with the “Patriot Movement.” McVeigh, Nicols and Dyer all believed that state and federal agents are part of a conspiracy to strip Americans of their sovereign rights and believed that it was their duty to defend the constitution.

Dyers group, the Oathkeepers, were extremely against taxes, feared socialism, believed strongly in gun rights, defending the constitution and were closely tied to the militia movement and white supremacists, an ideology strikingly similar to that of McVeigh and Nichols.

The Oath Keepers are described by the SPLC as “particularly worrisome example” of a “virulently antigovernment ‘Patriot’ movement” that has been reinvigorated, in part, by the fact that the president is black. The group also views President Obama as an “enemy of the state.”

It is interesting, that with Glenn Beck and the Tea Party movement, the right wing, who are now so concerned with Islamic extremists in the military, are promoting the same ideals that the extremist terrorist duo of Nichols and McVeigh were fueled by.

Like many from the right, McVeigh was once a registered Republican member of the NRA and distributed gun rights literature.  Like many people in the Tea Party movement, McVeigh was against taxes and big government. The following quotes attributed to McVeigh could easily have come from someone in the Tea Party movement, especially the Oath Keepers group that Dyer was a part of.

Taxes are a joke. Regardless of what a political candidate “promises,” they will increase. More taxes are always the answer to government mismanagement. They mess up. We suffer. Taxes are reaching cataclysmic levels, with no slowdown in sight… Is a Civil War Imminent? Do we have to shed blood to reform the current system? I hope it doesn’t come to that. But it might. Source

Go ahead, take everything I own; take my dignity. Feel good as you grow fat and rich at my expense; sucking my tax dollars and property. Source

The right wing ranting about socialist governments that we see from Fox News, Glenn Beck and teabaggers was also part of McVeigh’s rhetoric.

I believe we are slowly turning into a socialist government. The government is continually growing bigger and more powerful and the people need to prepare to defend themselves against government control. Source

Now here are some quotes from Charles Dyer.

Despite the warning signs that Dyer showed, he only got any media attention or the attention of law enforcement, after he was accused of raping a 7-year-old girl. He proclaimed himself a domestic terrorist on YouTube and attempted to recruit ex-military and police men into his movement.  Despite the horrible crime he was accused of and his role in the popular Right-Wing Tea Party, he has received little attention from the mainstream media. Dyer was clearly influenced by Fox News, as he did a video segment on Fox News resident lunatic birther, Dr. Orly Taitz.

While Fox has been extremely anti-terror when it comes to Muslims, they turn a blind eye to the potential right wing terrorists in the in the mold of Timothy McVeigh that associate with the Fox News sponsored Tea Party events. McVeigh and Dyer   were motivated by the same factors that are motivating the Fox news endorsed Tea Party movement: racism, a desire for guns, and a hatred for taxes and anything they perceive as socialism.

So how did the right responded to Timothy McVeigh? Ann Coultier said:

My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building. Source

At the time, Rush Limbaugh was very defensive about his role in McVeigh’s bombing. He said:

I want to go back to this show on April 24th of this year and–and remember at this time we’re–we’re about five days after the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City. And we’re into this period of time where talk radio–and, of course, when you say talk radio what everybody thinks of is Rush Limbaugh–talk radio is responsible for this because of the extremist nature of the programs and it could inspire these lunatics to do what they did(sarcasm)…Source

To this day, Rush Limbaugh believes that Clinton blamed him for the Oklahoma bombing, despite the fact that Clinton never mentioned his name. Source

Bill Maher accused Fox Host Glenn Beck of using the same rhetoric that “made (McVeigh) blow up that building” on March 23, 2009. Source

Four months late, Beck would address the McVeigh issue, saying

If anyone thinks that it would be a good idea to turn violent, think again. It would destroy the Republic. They have awakened a sleeping giant. But just one lunatic like Timothy McVeigh could ruin everything that everyone has worked so hard for. Because these people in Washington won’t pass up the use of an emergency. Look how the media ran with the abortion doctor killing. They tried to pin that despicable act on Fox in general and specifically Bill O’Reilly and me. …I don’t want to ever hear from our own Americans, anyone voicing some sort of Muslim-extremist type justification. Source

Notice that Beck is not condemning violence, just asking his followers not to be violent so they don’t make him look bad in the eyes of the media. Still while distancing himself from violence, Beck is clearly attaching himself to the philosophies of McVeigh. In many ways, Beck is like the “radical” Islamic clerics who influence terrorists by preaching hate and fear without ever calling for violence directly.

So if we are going to be on the look out for possible extremist/terrorist types. We should not only check for Muslims who subscribe to radical Islam, but we should check for people who listen to Glenn Beck and Ann Coultier. Lunatics come from all sorts of religions, political parties and races. If we are going to profile for lunatics out of one background, we might as well start with the right wing. White supremacists have been infiltrating the military for some time now, according to the New York Times, and with a Black President, they pose more of a threat than ever.

After the Tennessee church shooting and the killing of Dr. Tiller, right wing pundits must realize their ability to influence people to turn violent. The fact that Rush Limbaugh gets to preach his anti-Obama hate on Armed Forces Radio to our soldiers is extremely frightening after what we saw McVeigh and Nichols did. We must be on guard from anybody in the military with anti-Government attitudes, whether they be influenced by radical Muslim clerics or radical right wing pundits.
