No, but Rush Limbaugh’s (pictured) transparency doesn’t make his defense of Martin’s killer and assailing of “the left” for its “obsession” with race any less baffling and irritating. The conservative commentator used his platform to peddle some delusional notion that George Zimmerman was just a guy who “loves law enforcement” that “wanted to protect his neighborhood, and he just got a little overzealous and so forth.”

Yeah, and the brick an angry woman throws through the window of her cheating man’s car is just a friendly reminder for him to get them tinted.

Rush also took issue with the New York Times referring to Zimmerman as a “white Hispanic” as “that fits the template” of a Black vs. White crime. Never mind the reality that the term only accurately denotes race and ethnicity for proper context. While he didn’t mean it in that fashion, there’s something supremely shallow and rather predictable about Zimmerman apologists citing his ethnicity as if that prevents him from harboring racist sentiments. One could also consider that viewpoint “mighty White.”

Speaking of such, the fellow racial epithet enthusiast had the gall to declare, “I don’t look at people and see a race or a sexual orientation or whatever. I mean, I’m a red-blooded American guy.” If you can hold in your laughter long enough, Rush also added, “I don’t see feminist or a female victim of some oppressive society.”

This is the same man who once quipped about Blacks, “They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?” the one who just loved the hell out of the song “Barack The Magic Negro” (listen above) and played it numerous times on his show, and the guy who told a Black female caller to “take the bone out of your nose and call me back.”

But supposedly, “I [Rush] don’t see Black-versus-White or anything. The left is the ones who do this.”

Those with ears – including his ever-expanding lists of abandoned sponsors – know how great a crock that is.

As is this trite and faux sympathetic remark: “We have a dead 17-year-old, and this being looked at through a political prism by people is just something that escapes me, just really does.”

The political context of Trayvon’s murder escapes Rush because — as a White man free to spew any and all things patriarchal and prejudice for profit — the only political matters he has to concern himself with are those that boost his bottom line.

The rest of us don’t have the luxury to be so linear in our thinking, which explains why the political factors that helped create the Trayvon Martin slaying are all too apparent and deserving of our outcries. Fact is, the issue of race is one that consumes Americans independent of hue, and in Rush’s case specifically, hubris.

How that interest manifests itself is what separates us.

In one corner you have people like Rush Limbaugh, who pimp racial stereotypes and fuel the hatred of all things “other” to a certain segment of the population. The other corner consists of those who understand the dangerous consequences of their actions and speak out when tragedy strikes, hoping their words might finally make a difference.

The Bloomberg survey showed 53 percent of respondents saying that Limbaugh should be fired “solely” for his comments about Fluke. Men were almost evenly split 49-47 percent on the question, but women came down strongly for Limbaugh’s dismissal, with 56 percent calling for his ouster and 39 percent saying he should stay. Moreover, almost a third of Republicans wanted him gone.

141 Advertisers Leave Limbaugh’s Show

Gloria Allred, the famed celebrity lawyer, sent a letter to the Palm Beach County Attorney’s Office on Thursday saying prosecutors should consider a charge under an 1883 law making it a misdemeanor to question a woman’s chastity.

“He has personally targeted her and vilified her, and he should have to bear the consequences of his extremely outrageous, tasteless and damaging conduct,” Allred said in a phone interview Friday.

Limbaugh had no immediate comment on the letter and didn’t address it in his radio show Friday. Rachel Nelson, a spokeswoman for Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks Inc., said the network had nothing further to add.

Denise Nieman, the county attorney, said she forwarded the letter to the state attorney’s office, which handles criminal matters. The state attorney’s office had no immediate comment.

Allred focused her efforts on Palm Beach because Limbaugh both lives and broadcasts his show from the county. She cited a state law that says, “Whoever speaks of and concerning any woman, married or unmarried, falsely and maliciously imputing to her a want of chastity, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree.”

Allred has a long history of taking on high-profile cases, most recently representing a woman who claimed to have been sexually harassed by former presidential candidate Herman Cain, and a woman who received lewd messages from former Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Whether prosecutors will take the request seriously and whether such a case could pose First Amendment issues remained to be seen. But the law should be used because it’s still on the books, Allred said.

“I’m sure he has an army of highly paid attorneys in his entourage to advise him about how he should defend himself,” she said. “I’m concerned about the impact that he has had and that he wished to have had on women who choose to speak out and exercise their free speech.”

The tumult began last week when Limbaugh discounted the appearance of a Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke, on Capitol Hill. Fluke testified to congressional Democrats in support of their national health care policy that would compel her Catholic college’s health plan to cover her birth control, a comment Limbaugh seized on.

He said last Wednesday: “What does it say about the college coed … who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”

After an outcry — and the decision by numerous businesses to pull their ads from his show — he apologized, saying “I should not have used the language I did, and it was wrong.”

Allred called that apology “meaningless.”

Since the Sandra Fluke scandal, several stations have already dropped “The Rush Limbaugh Show.” Over 40 advertisers have pulled their spots from the broadcast, and several members of Congress have spoken out against Rush and his deplorable remarks.  And on Wednesday night, Sen. Carl Levin, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, said he would like the Armed Services Network to also drop the show.  As a woman, and as a mother, I couldn’t agree with these leaders more.  It’s time for Rush to go.

There’s no place in our discourse for someone who calls an innocent woman a “slut”, a “prostitute” or worse.  Freedom of speech doesn’t give people with a platform and bully pulpit to openly spew hatred.  In 2007, Don Imus thought he could make bigoted comments and get away with it, but he soon learned that racism would not be tolerated.  Similarly, Rush will wake up to the reality that sexism won’t be tolerated either.

In November, voters will head to the polls and decide who will lead the country for the next four years.  A majority of these citizens — like the majority of our population itself —will be women.  And these women (myself included) will not forget the vicious attack against Sandra Fluke.  Nor will we forget the lack of leadership from Republican leaders in calling out Rush Limbaugh.  Women, and the men who love us (including our fathers and grandfathers), will not forget.

Rush foolishly thinks he provides some sort of entertainment.  We are not amused, Rush, and neither are your advertisers.  During this Women’s History Month, how dare you insult us.  Someone please turn his mic off.

Limbaugh said that the “28 sponsors” were “out of 18,000″ and that their absence means nothing:

“That’s like losing a couple of french fries in the container when it’s delivered to you in the drive thru. You don’t even notice it.”

After assuring his faithful listeners that “three brand new sponsors had signed on,” he further explained the politics of the entire situation, confirming what many had already suspected: Sponsors are merely jumping on the media induced, politically correct band-wagon by dropping Limbaugh’s show; when in fact, he’s not losing a dime.

“Let me try to explain how this works. Let’s take the claim that we’ve lost 28 sponsors. Sponsors on this program are both local and national. We deal with the national sponsors on this program. We have 600 plus stations. They sell their own commercials. We don’t have anything to do with those sponsors, we don’t get paid by those sponsors, we have no idea who those sponsors are,” he said.

This happens every day. It’s been happening for 23 plus years. And it’s not just me. There are clients, advertiser that tell stations, I don’t want this to run on Beck’s show, I don’t want it to run in Hannity’s, I don’t want it to run on Howard Stern’s. It’s all part of the business.”

Nobody is losing money here, including us. And that is key for you to understand.”

The left is so fed up they can’t see straight. They thought they’d have me they thought I would be off the air by now. They can’ understand why I still am,” he said. “It’s just part of an onslaught to try to convince you that this show’s history and our days are numbered. And I’m happy to tell you nothing could be further from the truth.”

To date, two radio stations have dropped Limbaugh’s show. WBEC in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, along with KPUA in Hilo, Hawaii, both said that Rush’s words had “crossed a line” for them, reports the Huffington Post. As petitions continue to circulate and social media continues to put pressure on stations and advertisers, the fate of Limbaugh’s show hangs in the balance. If history tells the tale, though, when the furor dies down, Rush will still be Rush — the bigot America loves to hate.

Limbaugh had criticized President Barack Obama for committing troops to fight Joseph Kony and the LRA and defended the group without having any knowledge of what they really did, seemingly just to find a new reason to attack Obama.

Here is what Limbaugh said about the Lord’s Resistance Army In October

Lord’s Resistance Army are Christians. They are fighting the Muslims in Sudan. And Obama has sent troops, United States troops to remove them from the battlefield, which means kill them. That’s what the lingo means, “to help regional forces remove from the battlefield,” meaning capture or kill.

So that’s a new war, a hundred troops to wipe out Christians in Sudan, Uganda, and — (interruption) no, I’m not kidding. Jacob Tapper just reported it. Now, are we gonna help the Egyptians wipe out the Christians? Wouldn’t you say that we are? I mean the Coptic Christians are being wiped out, but it wasn’t just Obama that supported that. The conservative intelligentsia thought it was an outbreak of democracy. Now they’ve done a 180 on that, but they forgot that they supported it in the first place. Now they’re criticizing it.

Lord’s Resistance Army objectives. I have them here. “To remove dictatorship and stop the oppression of our people.” Now, again Lord’s Resistance Army is who Obama sent troops to help nations wipe out. The objectives of the Lord’s Resistance Army, what they’re trying to accomplish with their military action in these countries is the following: “To remove dictatorship and stop the oppression of our people; to fight for the immediate restoration of the competitive multiparty democracy in Uganda; to see an end to gross violation of human rights and dignity of Ugandans; to ensure the restoration of peace and security in Uganda, to ensure unity, sovereignty, and economic prosperity beneficial to all Ugandans, and to bring to an end the repressive policy of deliberate marginalization of groups of people who may not agree with the LRA ideology.” Those are the objectives of the group that we are fighting, or who are being fought and we are joining in the effort to remove them from the battlefield.

After defending the LRA and criticizing Obama for taking them on, Limbaugh received some information about the LRA that made him rethink his statement.

Is that right? The Lord’s Resistance Army is being accused of really bad stuff? Child kidnapping, torture, murder, that kind of stuff? Well, we just found out about this today. We’re gonna do, of course, our due diligence research on it. But nevertheless we got a hundred troops being sent over there to fight these guys — and they claim to be Christians.

So now we can add defending mass murderers to Limbaugh’s impressive resume of offending African Americans, immigrants, women and the disabled. Kony and the LRA are being made into international bad guys by the new documentary “Invisible Children” which has gone viral thanks to an impressive marketing campaign.

Where’s the evidence, you may ask? Limbaugh’s latest brain fart inspired him to call Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke (a 30-year-old women’s activist who spoke before the House of Representatives lobbying for free contraception) a “slut” and “prostitute.”

Limbaugh has said so many insulting and disrespectful things over the years that this latest dig initially seemed as if it would be given a pass. But not so fast. In recent days, Limbaugh has been losing advertisers off of his radio show faster than a roll of toilet paper can disappear from an unfortunate diner with food poisoning. Since Limbaugh has been hit where it hurts — his pocket — he gave what seems to be his first apology ever for his unfortunate remarks. As of Wednesday, Limbaugh has lost 39 advertisers.

According to Horsey, George Will, a Washington Post conservative columnist and what appears to be the inspiration for this lovely cartoon, is one of the few to call out the GOP elephant in the room:

George Will, one of the last lions of the right wing whose conservatism is a philosophy rather than a pathology, has heaped scorn on Republican leaders for their cowardly obeisance to Rush Limbaugh…. Sunday morning on ABC’s ”This Week,” Will said straight out that ‘Republican leaders are afraid of Rush Limbaugh.’

Horsey then details how GOP leaders reacted to Limbaugh’s money-snatching comments:

[House Speaker John] Boehner comes out and says Rush’s language was inappropriate, Will said. “Using the salad fork for your entree, that’s inappropriate. Not this stuff.

Commenting on Limbaugh’s tirade, Mitt Romney timidly observed that ‘slut’ and ‘prostitute’ were not necessarily the words he would have chosen, as if Limbaugh were simply in need of a thesaurus.

Rick Santorum called Limbaugh’s comments ‘absurd,’ but seemed to give Rush a pass since he is an entertainer whose job it is to be absurd.

Newt Gingrich simply took the Limbaugh flap as one more opportunity to denounce the ‘liberal media.’

Now Limbaugh is attempting to say that there is a double standard in his treatment and the way rappers are treated for misogynist language and the way he was treated. He wrote on his website:

“You talk about a double standard, One of the greatest illustrations of it is that rappers can practically say anything they want about women, and it’s called art.”

What Limbaugh doesn’t mention is that rappers are held to a standard of misogyny. Rapper Too Short and XXL Magazine’s Vanessa Satten faced a similar campaign of petitions and boycotts and a call to have the editor fired which resulted in an apology from Too Short and Vanessa Satten.

Misogyny is not right when it comes from hip-hop and it not right when it comes from right wing radio hosts. What is particularly disturbing about Limbaugh’s misogyny is that he is known as the voice of the Republican party. Limbaugh is the highest rated talk show host in the country and boasts of 20 million day times listeners, known as ditto-heads, who follow Limbaugh without question.

Ronald Reagan called Limbaugh, the “Number One voice for conservatism in our Country” and he received the “Defender Of The Constitution” award from CPAC, where he was the keynote speaker in 2009. Limbaugh has had George W. Bush as a guest six times and has had his hero Dick Cheney on the show.

So should Limbaugh be held to a higher standard than rappers, shock jocks and comedians who use misogynist terms? Misogyny is wrong in any context but when it being used with the full support of a major political party it is particularly disturbing.

Many in the African American community have been critical of misogyny in hip hop. Corporate sponsored hip hop should have to face the same criticism Limbaugh does but that in no way makes Limbaugh’s comments any less acceptable. Limbaugh’s childish “hip-hop does it too” defense shows the standards of misogyny he sets for himself.. Perhaps if Snoop Dogg was the “voice of the Democratic Party” he might face the same scrutiny as Limbaugh.

The student, Sandra Fluke, said Limbaugh’s apology did nothing to change the corrosive tone of the debate over health care coverage and that Americans have to decide whether they want to support companies that continue to advertise on his program. AOL and Tax Resolution Services Co. on Monday became the eighth and ninth advertisers to leave Limbaugh’s three-hour show and at least one radio station dropped the program as he sought to stem the exodus of advertisers and fellow conservatives declined to offer him support.

“I should not have used the language I did, and it was wrong,” a rarely contrite Limbaugh told listeners.

But callers to the show urged him not to give in to critics, which now include Republican leaders in Congress and those seeking the GOP presidential nomination. He blamed the media for the pressure.

“Talk about a double standard,” Limbaugh said. “Rappers can say anything they want about women. It’s called art. And they win awards.”

Fluke, who testified to congressional Democrats in support of their national health care policy that would compel her Jesuit college’s health plan to cover her birth control, said she had not heard from Limbaugh directly but signaled she had little interest in speaking with him. She said his criticism of her beliefs was an attack on women’s health.

“I think any woman who has ever been called these types of names is (shocked) at first,” Fluke told ABC’s “The View.”

“But then I tried to see this for what it is, and I believe that what it is, is an attempt to silence me, to silence the millions of women and the men who support them who have been speaking out about this issue and conveying that contraception is an important health care need that they need to have met in an affordable, accessible way.”

Fluke had been invited to testify to a House committee about her school’s health care plan, which does not include contraception. Republican lawmakers barred her from testifying during that hearing, but Democrats invited her back and she spoke to the Democratic lawmakers at an unofficial session.

The issue has been much debated in the presidential race, with Republican candidates particularly criticizing President Barack Obama’s requirements on such employers as Catholic hospitals. Democrats – and many Republican leaders, too – have suggested the issue could energize women to vote for Obama and other Democrats in November.

Sen. John McCain, the GOP’s 2008 presidential nominee, told CBS News on Monday that Limbaugh’s statements were unacceptable “in every way” and “should be condemned” by people across the political spectrum. Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich said it is “silly” to suggest that Limbaugh speaks for the party.

Limbaugh, even as he retreated from his earlier characterization of Fluke as a “slut” and “prostitute,” insisted the 30-year-old was trying to “force a religious institution to abandon its principles to meet hers.”

“Those two words were inappropriate. They were uncalled for,” he said of his initial comments that roiled his critics. “They distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make.”

Even so, eight companies now have stopped advertising on Limbaugh’s program on Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks Inc. The parent company is supporting Limbaugh, whose on-air contract with Premiere runs through 2016.

A Hawaii radio station on Monday announced it would no longer air Limbaugh’s show.

“Regardless of one’s political views on the issue being discussed, we feel the delivery was degrading and the continued comments over several days to be egregious. As a result, we are discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program on KPUA effective immediately,” New West president and general manager Chris Leonard said in a statement.

AOL said Monday that Limbaugh’s messages “are not in line with our values.”

ProFlowers, mortgage lender Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, software maker Citrix Systems Inc., online data backup service provider Carbonite and the online legal document services company LegalZoom also left Limbaugh’s roster of advertisers. Allstate Insurance said on its Facebook page that it didn’t even know it was advertising on Limbaugh’s show and that it was correcting a media buy error by discontinuing its advertising there.

At the Pentagon, spokesman George Little said the military’s network will continue to air Limbaugh’s radio program and that he is unaware of any plans to review that decision.

The American Forces Network has consistently defended its inclusion of Limbaugh saying its programming reflects what the audience could hear at home, and that it doesn’t try to protect listeners from views with which they may disagree.

A 100,000-member veterans group, VoteVets.org, said it will be launching a petition Tuesday, calling on the Pentagon to take Limbaugh off the military’s network.

In Missouri, the state where Limbaugh was born, state House Speaker Steven Tilley defended a decision he made months ago to add the radio host to the Hall of Famous Missourians in the Capitol. Tilley said the hall honors famous Missourians, not “universally loved Missourians.”

Limbaugh sought to find some humor in the situation.

“I called myself to cancel my advertising. I got a busy signal,” he deadpanned at the start of Monday’s program.

Yet, he appeared defiant and suggested he’d have little trouble finding new sponsors.

“I reject millions of dollars of advertisers a year much to the chagrin of my hard-working sales staff,” Limbaugh said.

The tumult began last week when Limbaugh discounted Fluke’s appearance on Capitol Hill.

He said last Wednesday: “What does it say about the college coed … who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”

He dug in a day later, refusing to give ground.

“If we’re going to have to pay for this, then we want something in return, Ms. Fluke,” Limbaugh said. “And that would be the videos of all this sex posted online so we can see what we’re getting for our money.”

On Friday, still defiant even after Democrats beat back Republican challenges to the new health care requirement, Limbaugh scoffed at the Democrats’ talk of a conservative “war on women.”

Obama, aware of the political advantages of branding all conservatives as supporters of Limbaugh’s views, telephoned Fluke from the Oval Office on Friday to offer his support.

A day later, Limbaugh apologized in writing to Fluke.

Yet even on Monday, Limbaugh didn’t back away from his criticism of Fluke’s appearance on Capitol Hill. He questioned why she was invited testify.

“She doesn’t have any expertise,” Limbaugh said during the second hour of his radio show.

Nine advertisers and a radio station in Hawaii dropped his show after he called a law student a “slut” and a “prostitute.”

One of the most popular radio shows in the country on Monday lost advertisers including AOL Inc. and Tax Resolution Services Co.

The tax firm helps people who have disputes with the IRS. It spends some $9 million a year on radio advertising, according to ratings firm Nielsen, and its website carries endorsement from conservative talk radio personalities Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, as well as Limbaugh himself.

“You don’t need to fight this fight alone,” Limbaugh is quoted as saying on the Tax Resolution site. His endorsement was still up on Tax Resolution’s site on Monday afternoon.

CEO Michael Rozbruch said the statement about dropping Limbaugh was easily issued — but changing the website will require a meeting later in the week.

Limbaugh apologized over the weekend for his comments about Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke after she testified to congressional Democrats that her Jesuit college’s health plan should cover her birth control.

KPUA, an AM station in Hilo, Hawaii, said it is dropping Limbaugh’s show immediately.

The statement by station owner New West said the Limbaugh incident “crossed a line of decency” and didn’t live up to its standards.

“We are strong believers in the first amendment and have recognized Mr. Limbaugh’s right to express opinions that often times differ from our own, but it has never been our goal to allow our station to be used for personal attacks and intolerance,” station owner New West said.

Limbaugh joked on Monday that he got a busy signal when he called his show because of the advertisers who are abandoning it.

Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks Inc. hosts Limbaugh’s show. His on-air contract runs through 2016.

Premiere Radio said in a statement Monday that it respects Limbaugh’s right to express his opinions, and said that “in an attempt at absurdist humor to illustrate his political point, Mr. Limbaugh used words that unfortunately distracted from the message he was trying to convey.”

The company said Limbaugh did the right thing by “expressing regret for his choice of words and offering his sincere and heartfelt apology to Ms. Fluke.”

Fluke said Monday that Limbaugh’s apology changes nothing and that Americans have to decide whether to support companies that continue to advertise on his program.

The advertisers that have backed away from Limbaugh’s program represent a broad range of industries, from technology to financial services to retailers.

AOL, an Internet portal that runs the TechCrunch blog and the Huffington Post, said Monday that Limbaugh’s comments “are not in line with our values.”

Other companies that say they have left the show include flower delivery service ProFlowers, mortgage lender Quicken Loans, the maker of Sleep Number beds, mattress retailer Sleep Train, software maker Citrix Systems Inc., online data backup service provider Carbonite and online legal document services company LegalZoom.

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment operates more than 850 radio stations in the U.S., and Premiere says it’s the largest radio content provider in the country, syndicating programs to more than 5,000 affiliate stations.

Clear Channel has declined to say how much revenue it stands to lose from advertiser defections. Its parent company was taken private in 2008.

Fluke found herself the target of Rushy’s wrath because she was advocating for health insurance plans to cover the cost of contraception.

Besides calling her a “slut,” he also called her a “prostitute” who should compensate men like him for paying for her birth control:

“So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch,” the darling of the Republican party said.

Experiencing a backlash from within his own party that never approached these levels when he was just plain old racist (surprise, surprise), the remarks prompted advertisers to leave in droves and even made President Barack Obama call Fluke to encourage her, saying that Limbaugh’s comments were “reprehensible.”

With his pockets in jeopardy, Rush did the only thing he could do:

Apologize.

“For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.”

Interesting, that he “posits that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom” when he has plenty to say about homosexuality. According to The New Civil Rights Movement, (though, I’d be curious to know what happened to the “old” one), Rush is known to intrude in bedrooms quite a bit. Check out one of his most homophobic quotes:

…let’s say we discover the gene that says the kid’s gonna be gay. How many parents, if they knew before the kid was gonna be born, [that he] was gonna be gay, they would take the pregnancy to term? Well, you don’t know but let’s say half of them said, “Oh, no, I don’t wanna do that to a kid.” [Then the] gay community finds out about this. The gay community would do the fastest 180 and become pro-life faster than anybody you’ve ever seen. … They’d be so against abortion if it was discovered that you could abort what you knew were gonna be gay babies.”

While it is great that Limbaugh has been chopped down to size by a woman fighting for equality, this situation does beg the question:

Where was all this outrage when he was calling the POTUS a “bi-racial oreo” or his recurring character, Bo Snerdley, who touts that he is certified to speak on Black issues because  he has a “heavy dose of pure, unadulterated organic slave blood” before proceeding to speak with perfect diction then shifting to “ebonics” so the “hood” can understand him?

What about when he told a Black woman caller to “take the bone out her nose and call him back?

Or how about when he said that the NFL looked like a shoot-out between the Bloods and the Crips without guns?

Or when he said that Black people are only “12 percent of the population, who the hell cares?”

The dollars were rolling in.

So, while it’s great to see the voice of the GOP grovel, it’s quite revealing to see exactly what conservatives feel is “taking it too far.” It’s also interesting to see that Rush is more concerned with his money than standing by his “principles.” The man is bought and paid for just like the “prostitutes” he referenced in his statement.

As if anyone ever doubted it.

For Obama, it was an emphatic plunge into the latest flare-up on social issues. Democratic officeholders and liberal advocacy have accused Republicans of waging a “war on women” because of GOP stances on contraception and abortion rights, and Limbaugh’s tirade on his radio talk show was seen as an escalation.

In addition to her call from the president, the third-year Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, was backed by members of Congress, women’s groups, and the administration and faculty at her Roman Catholic university.

Demands for Limbaugh’s sponsors to pull their ads from his rocketed through cyberspace, and at least three companies, Quicken Loans and bedding retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, bowed to the pressure.

Obama considers Limbaugh’s remarks “reprehensible,” according to White House spokesman Jay Carney. He said the president called Fluke to “express his disappointment that she has been the subject of inappropriate personal attacks” and to thank her for speaking out on an issue of public policy.

“The fact that our political discourse has become debased in many ways is bad enough,” Carney said. “It is worse when it’s directed at a private citizen who was simply expressing her views.”

Obama reached Fluke by phone as she was waiting to go on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”

“What was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud,” a choked-up Fluke told Mitchell. “And that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. So I just appreciated that very much.”

By calling Fluke and injecting himself into the Limbaugh controversy, Obama sent a message to more than one law student. He was reaching out to young voters and women — two groups whose support he needs in this re-election year. And he was underscoring that the White House, despite bungling its rollout of the birth control policy, sees it as a winning issue and welcomes Obama’s name next to it.

Fluke was given a chance to talk to Congress on Feb. 23, even though lawmakers were on a break and just a few Democratic allies were on hand to cheer her on. The previous week, a Republican-controlled House committee had rejected Democrats’ request that she testify on the Obama administration’s policy requiring that employees of religion-affiliated institutions have access to health insurance that covers birth control.

Republicans have faulted parts of Obama’s health care reform as unconstitutional, including an initial requirement, since withdrawn by the president, that contraceptives be covered under the insurance policies of businesses, including those with religious affiliations.

Fluke said that Georgetown, a Jesuit institution, does not provide contraception coverage in its student health plan and that contraception can cost a woman more than $3,000 during law school. She spoke of a friend who had an ovary removed because the insurance company wouldn’t cover the prescription birth control she needed to stop the growth of cysts.

On Wednesday, Limbaugh unleashed a lengthy and often savage verbal assault on Fluke.

“What does it say about the college coed … who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex?” Limbaugh said. “It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”

He went on to suggest that Fluke distribute sex tapes of herself.

“If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it,” he said. “We want you post the videos online so we can all watch.”

The backlash began quickly and showed no signs of abating as scores of Democratic members of Congress denounced Limbaugh and urged their GOP colleagues to do likewise.

The Republican speaker of the House, John Boehner, responded through a spokesman.

“The Speaker obviously believes the use of those words was inappropriate, as is trying to raise money off the situation,” said Boehner aide Michael Steel.

Later, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the committee that blocked Fluke’s original testimony, issued a letter repudiating Limbaugh’s comments but also excoriating the Democrats and their supporters.

“I ask that you join me in a broader condemnation of the attacks on people of faith … and the regrettable personal attacks that have come from individuals on both sides of the issue,” Issa wrote to Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md.

Boehner and Issa are among the GOP leaders accused of waging the purported “war on women.” The topic has been cited often in recent fundraising pitches by many liberal advocacy groups, and they recently have shown more aggressiveness.

In early February, after a three-day furor, the Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity dropped plans to withdraw funding from Planned Parenthood, a leading abortion provider. And more recently, after incurring protests and ridicule, Republican politicians in Virginia backed away from a bill that would have required invasive vaginal ultrasounds as a pre-condition for many abortions.

Amid this controversy, polls show that Obama’s support among women has been increasing.

At Georgetown, more than 130 faculty members signed a letter praising Fluke for her “grace and strength” and condemning Limbaugh’s remarks. The university president, John J. DeGioia, did likewise.

He said Limbaugh and others responded to Fluke “with behavior that can only be described as misogynistic, vitriolic, and a misrepresentation of the position of our student.”

On Thursday, aware of the firestorm he had ignited, Limbaugh was unapologetic.

“I think this is hilarious. Absolutely hilarious” he said on his show. “The left has been thrown into an outright conniption fit!”

On Friday, still defiant, Limbaugh scoffed at the concept of a conservative “war on women.”

“Amazingly, when there is the slightest bit of opposition to this new welfare entitlement being created, then all of a sudden we hate women! We want ‘em barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen,” he said. “And now, at the end of this week, I am the person that the women of America are to fear the most.”

Longtime Republican strategist Terry Holt suggested voters might see Obama’s response to an over-the-top radio host as “pure pandering” to woo women’s votes.

“This conversation seems to serve Rush Limbaugh and president Obama equally well,” Holt said.

Fluke, in Washington, issued a statement expressing gratitude for the support she’s received and resolve to continue speaking out.

“No woman deserves to be disrespected in this manner. This language is an attack on all women, and has been used throughout history to silence our voices,” she said.

“The millions of American women who have and will continue to speak out in support of women’s health care and access to contraception prove that we will not be silenced.”

Rick Santorum, one of the Republican presidential contenders seeking to oppose Obama, commented to CNN about Limbaugh’s remarks.

“He’s being absurd,” Santorum said. “But that’s, you know, an entertainer can be absurd.”

When a respected, retired general condemns the statement of a sportscaster, you know he’s gone too far.

Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not Black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for Black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

So Rush Limbaugh has managed to make racist attacks on four of the most admired and respected people of African descent in the past one hundred years, in Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell and Barack Obama. He has claimed that Joe the Plumber, who isn’t even a plumber is more important in this election than Colin Powell, a decorated military veteran who has served honorably in three administrations. How can the Republican party stand by this man and let their candidates appear on his show? Rush Limbaugh’s comments are so racist, they’re funny, in a Borat, Archie Bunker kind of way. What is not funny is the millions of dittoheads who listen to him, who take in and re-spout all the racist rhetoric that he spits. Limbaugh’s statements are echoed in the racist, angry Palin/McCain supporters who shout ‘kill him,’ ‘terrorist,’ ‘communist,’ ‘traitor,’ ‘socialist’ and ‘off with his head.’

However, in the fall of 2009, this post surfaced in the debate that followed Limbaugh’s dismissal from an investment group attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams. NewsOne has, as yet, not been able to determine the veracity of these quotes.  We note the following for the record:

• These two quotes were both sourced to a book by Jack Huberman called “101 People Who Are Really Screwing America,” published by Nation Books in 2006. The author of this book, in turn, claims that he procured these quotes from a source which he has refused to reveal “on advice of counsel.”
• Rush Limbaugh has vigorously denied that he said these things.

In sum, NewsOne can no longer vouch for the accuracy of these quotes. And he’s right, Limbaugh added, they do that well.  Mom and Dad and the two kids.  It’s a good-looking family.

Limbaugh then went in on the First Family, stating that Mrs. Obama needs to get rid of her nutritional standards to combat childhood obesity.

That’s not the kind of teamwork, you see, that the people of this country want.  They don’t want their government telling them what they cannot eat.  They don’t want the government telling them what they must eat.  Even little leftist robot kids don’t.

Then in a really insulting remark, Limbaugh went back to the hypocritical Republican position that poor people simply need to learn family values:

You know, the best thing Michelle Obama could do — and I’m not joking here — the best thing Michelle Obama could do for people in poverty is to simply highlight the solid nuclear family that she has with her husband, Barack, and the two kids.

It’s easy to see why Limbaugh wouldn’t be happy about Michelle Obama’s nutritional standards: She and her family are healthy, and Rush Limbaugh is not.  The poor man has fought with obesity, drug addiction, and nearly every other symbol of a gluttonous, self-absorbed life.  His position on disciplined family values is heavily contradicted by the way he’s lived his own life — but that’s essentially what makes him a good Republican.

Limbaugh is correct that the Obamas have the kind of family that even most Republicans can’t criticize.  They are not defying the norms of the Black family; they are reflecting them.  Millions of Black families across America consist of good, normal people who want to do what’s best for their children.  Limbaugh’s code language involving the use of words like “poor,” “urban,” and “unprivileged,” are nothing more than modern day manifestations of the same old self-righteous racism that has held our country back for the last 400 years.

Limbaugh may want to take time to reflect on his own values.  If every poor family in America decided to take on the ethical disposition of Rush Limbaugh, then God help us all.  The man almost went to prison for his drug addiction for goodness sake, and it’s amazing that so many Republicans are listening to him.

The criticism was based on a Halloween party the Obama family had in 2009 that was designed by director, Tim Burton. Limbaugh attacked the Obama family for living lavishly in the White House because they believed theywere  owed the lifestyle because of what was done to their ancestors (slavery).

“No way the press didn’t know about this,” he said. “If we didn’t know about this, what else is going on in there that we didn’t know about… that the press knows about but is choosing not to report?”

Limbaugh also raised the subject of slavery and Jim Crow when he analyzed the Obamas’ behavior in office. He said that the couple viewed their tenure as an opportunity to “live high on the hog,” and that the idea that they were “owed this because of what’s been done to us and our ancestors” was “part of” their thinking.

Limbaugh defended the booers, claiming that they had a right to do so, considering her healthy eating initiatives and vacations, accusing her of “uppity-ism.”

The term “uppity” has historically been used to describe African-Americans who didn’t know their place.

“I’ll tell you something else — we don’t like paying millions of dollars for Mrs. Obama’s vacations,” he said. “The NASCAR crowd doesn’t quite understand why, when the husband and the wife are going the same place, the first lady has to take her own Boeing 757 with family and kids and hangers-on four hours earlier than her husband, who will be on his 747. NASCAR people understand that’s a little bit of a waste. They understand it is a little bit of uppity-ism. Limbaugh called the Politico article a “hit job” and an “unconscionable, racially stereotypical attack.”

The story details how two women who worked under Cain during his tenure leading the National Restaurant Association, and that there was a financial settlement with the women in order for them to drop the story.

The notion that the media treats black conservatives more harshly than black liberals or Democrats is one of Limbaugh’s frequent themes. He wondered aloud what would happen if the story had been about President Obama. The media, he said, would have attacked the unnamed women in the story.

“They would name names and they would destroy them.” he said.

Limbaugh lambasted the former Massachusetts governor  telling his radio audience,  ”Romney is not a conservative. He’s not, folks.”

He continued his assault attacking Romney’s gubernatorial record and his positions on healthcare and the environment.

Sure, you can point out that Massachusetts is a liberal state, but “there’s gonna be a lot of liberal pressure on whoever our president is: media, Democrat members of Congress that the media’s gonna fawn all over.” So let’s not settle on a candidate just yet—even though “the Republican establishment’s trying to nail this down and end it.”

Rev. Al Sharpton struck back at radio host Rush Limbaugh last night after the conservative commentator made fun of Sharpton’s teleprompter flub on MSNBC this past Tuesday.

Sharpton had trouble pronouncing the words “we must resist” before immediately moving on to his fellow host Ed Schultz.

Conservative commentators crowed about the gaffe, but none more so than Limbaugh who had his own theories as to why this happened.

“Somebody is sabotaging the Rev. Sharpton via the Teleprompter,” he said. “It’s either a racist Teleprompter or whoever is preparing the Teleprompter is racist.”

Sharpton answered Limbaugh’s allegations.

“There’s no racist teleprompter!” he said. “I messed up a line!” He thanked Limbaugh for highlighting the program.

Of course, over time, I’ve done much more reading and one of the things I’ve come across that’s given the aforementioned weird perspective at least a little grounding in history for me has been discovering just how rampant homosexuality was among the founders of what we now consider to be “civilization”.

Yes, those great Greeks that reportedly “invented” democracy also had very little interest in women and used them primarily as “breeding sows” (their term).

The main sexual interest of the Greeks—and I’m talking all the big shots here, Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Alexander the Great, was young boys.

In fact, a 12 year-old boy was supposed to have the ideal sexual body.

So to say that a woman has “an ass like a 10 year-old boy” could actually be considered a compliment by that line of thinking because you’re essentially saying that she’s just ripening.

How’d this all begin to change?

Well, the irony is that Catholicism—which is now considered to be almost synonymous with homosexual pedophilia—actually did away with that day’s indifference to homosexuality by making it a “sin”.

Still, when you see some boy-bodied female model in a fashion industry run and controlled by gay white men, it’s easy to believe that that line of thinking hasn’t completely disappeared.

But RK Byers, what is your point?

And how fool, if it does at all, does it relate to Black women?

Well, all I’m saying is this: to my knowledge, I’m not a descendant of Greeks. Nor are most Black people that I know. And luckily, Black and white tastes in the female form don’t run parallel.

So it would probably be in our better interest to judge Black women’s bodies along our own scale.

This isn’t to say that some bloated pig should get a pass just cause she’s a Black woman. This is, however, to allow for the things that we like, like some hips and some booty.

I write all this because that porcine lunatic Rush Limbaugh just attempted to slight our first lady Michelle Obama as being overweight because she indeed has a couple of our favorites: hips and booty.

Rush, we know what your ideal sex partner is, and like Austin Powers would say, “It’s a man, man!”

SAN FRANCISCO — A California lawmaker is calling for a boycott of companies that advertise on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show after the conservative commentator refused to apologize for mocking China’s president.

State Sen. Leland Yee launched the campaign after Limbaugh’s Jan. 19 radio program, during which he did a nonsensical impression of Chinese President Hu Jintao’s speech with President Barack Obama, the San Mateo County Times newspaper reported Wednesday.

After Yee complained about Limbaugh’s crude imitation, Limbaugh poked fun at the Chinese-American lawmaker, who’s running for mayor of San Francisco.

Limbaugh did not immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment from The Associated Press.

Yee told the newspaper that Limbaugh’s actions were “extremely hurtful” and damaging for children to hear.

Yee reached out to civil rights organizations Tuesday and launched an online petition asking people to join the boycott.

The lawmaker said he received a racist threat that was faxed by someone who appeared to be a Limbaugh supporter. Yee’s office sent out a copy of the alleged fax to the media.
