A verdict was declared in the case of slain teen Zaevion Dobson, a Tennessee high school football player who was recognized by Obama when he gave his life to protect his friends from gunfire.

The two suspects are both being held on a $1 million bond. A spokesperson for the Knox County district attorney's office also announced Basset and Williams will also face charges for possessing a firearm as a felon.

Past award winners include transgender activist and Olympian Caitlyn Jenner, former NFL player Michael Sam, and award-winning broadcast journalist Robin Roberts.

More than a hundred people gathered at a vigil in Knoxville to honor 12-year-old Jajuan Latham. He was fatally shot in a suspected gang shooting. Jajuan is a cousin of 15-year-old Zaevion Dobson, who died shielding three girls from gunfire.
