ATLANTA — Atlanta Public Schools Interim Superintendent Erroll Davis says about 30 school system employees implicated in a state cheating scandal have resigned or retired rather than go through termination.
Davis said Thursday that 130 to 150 educators named in a state investigative report released July 5 remain employed with the district, and the district is still deciding what to do next.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Davis said he met with Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. on Thursday. Davis told a town hall meeting that the DA’s office has been asked to identify educators who won’t be prosecuted so the district can handle those cases first.
The report names 178 educators, including 38 principals, as participants in improving students’ state test scores.
