Black Miss England Relinquishes Crown After Bar Fight
The reigning Miss England has relinquished her crown after being accused of a fight in a bar.
Pageant organizers say Rachel Christie has also withdrawn from next month’s Miss World competition in South Africa.
They said in a statement that the 21-year-old heptathlete will now focus on clearing her name and training for the 2012 Olympics.
British newspapers reported that Christie got into a dustup with another beauty queen — Miss Manchester Sara Beverley Jones — in a nightclub earlier this week.
Greater Manchester Police said Friday that a 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault after an altercation at the city’s Mansion nightclub on Monday. She was released on bail pending further enquiries.

Well I too thought at first that photo of her she didn’t(not hatin) so fine. I checked out the (Pageants’ site) and a few England newspapers for more info. I believe if I am not mistaken she was the first black winner and she is in the Olympics so she has her goals set. She resigned the very next day, her runner-up (white)barbie-ish who will replace her is now granted leave from the military service to do so. She probuly would have been asked or expected to step down because of the attention the fight (no reason for the fight)to distraction from (the country)chances of winning Miss World. I did think she was a little thin but the group photo of all the contestant showed that all the females were basically thin, tall, long legged. I am not a hater nor gay so I will say she was very photogentic and wore many two pieces swim wear and designer gowns beautifully. The pictures of her there are of better taken as they are poses.

There is no reaon what so ever y she had to fight(except if it was in self defence)she totally rubbished the esteemed image behind that crown inside a freaking local bar!! mmm, yet some of these women demand to be treated like a “QUEEN”

well ignoring the fight in the comment section, but am i the only one that is disturbed by the sudden “trend” cuz it’s black we accept it ” i mean i love to see my people prosper but are we gaining popularity because we MATTER or cuz we’re the underdogs with a dark skin color or are they just pacifying us to say “ok now you cant complain any further” im not saying there’s a world wide ideal to “hush black folks up” but have we moved on from the ideal that “cuz it’s white it’s right” on to the idea of “ok he’s black lets try him” i’d rather the better man for the job rather than the “give the (spanish, black,chinese,indian,german, etc) guy a try

Now Now Folks.. I thought beauty was more than skin deep. This is a talented young lady who was in a competition using more than her looks. As THEY say, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. She doesn’t have to appeal to you or I ..however, the judges chose her. Apparently, those other fine sisters that is seen all over England, didn’t have the inspiration to want to compete. Anyone that is so quick to call someone ugly must first look in the mirror, and I am sure you will see an ugly person looking back at you. It just isn’t nice. Remember that person was created by the Creator. Have some tolerance. We must all strive to reach a level of maturity. Calling folks ugly is immature as if you are still in the 3rd grade. As the first Black Miss England relinquishing her crown sets a bad precedence for other Black women who may want to compete. I wish her success in trying to clear her name and in her future endeavors.

I agree @ Rok…I’ve been to England a few times and I’ve seen better looking women out on the street. Usually though in beauty pagents they get judged off a number of different things. So yeah its usually not the pretties ones that win.
