AIDS Virus Protection Gel Fails In African Trials

LONDON – U.S. drug firm Endo Pharmaceuticals’ gel designed to prevent infection with the AIDS virus has proved ineffective in trials in Africa, Britain’s Medical Research Council (MRC) said on Monday.

A large international trial of vaginal microbicide Pro 2000 in more than 9,000 women in four African countries found no evidence that it reduces the risk of HIV infection.

The result is a setback for the specialty drugmaker, whose shares were hit earlier in the month when U.S. health regulators declined to approve its Aveed drug for low testosterone.

    What a set back! I have always wondered about AIDS in Africa…. Many Africans live in remote villages that are away from modern society and they rarely venture out. HOW can something like AIDS be so rampant among a people who have lived that way for millenia- away from the rest of the world… SOMETHING DOESNT SOUND RIGHT!

    You are correct. Interesting is smallpox went away and AIDS arrived. Thanks to all those people who came there to supposedly help the people.

    to answer moni’s question the “white man” who were also having sex with other white men, yes its true! when centeries ago they raped our black woman think about it! from time to time they still venture off to different villages in Africa to know clue of mine, but i do know during slavery it happened and those first few woman that got it have been dying after they passed it on to there children and of course so on and on its been speading every since.
