UPDATE: Oprah Responds to South African School Sex Scandal

Here is Oprah’s statement regarding the South African School’s recent sex scandals.

“I’m disappointed that several of our students chose to disregard the school’s rules. It’s disheartening when any student has to be suspended or expelled and it’s a process that involves serious review and consideration”

“We insist on maintaining a campus environment that commands mutual respect, fosters academic excellence and encourages learners to fulfill their best potential”

Indiscretions resulting in disciplinary action are common in schools all over the world. Unfortunately, because of my name these common infractions place the Academy in the media spotlight.”

Oprah Winfrey’s elite boarding school for girls in South Africa has been rocked by its second sex scandal in fewer than two years.

Seven students were suspended last week for sexually harassing their schoolmates, the “Afrikaans on Sunday” newspaper reported.

One 15-year-old was accused of preying on another pupil and forcing other girls to lie to investigators about it, the paper reported.

“You have been found guilty of physical contact of a sexual nature with another pupil on campus, harassment, bullying other girls on campus and of being dishonest by not telling investigators the whole truth,” a letter to her parents read.

Other girls were caught fondling each other or trying to get other girls to join them in lesbian liasons, the paper reported.

    Lord, here they go again.

    The first instance of sexual misconduct was with the leaders of the school preying on the students. That was horrible.
    Now it’s about the students interacting with each other. Now this TINY article does not give account to the WHOLE story so how then can WE have an opinion on it?
    This type of behavior most likely occurs at EVERY SCHOOL in the world; but because this is OPRAH’S project…the story gets air play with quotes like: “Should Oprah give up…”

    Give me a break.

    She can as she wishes with her money! They have money for schools in Mississippi, but the black superintendents are buying Bentley, homes, and ho’s with the money! They need to quarantine Mississippi, Alabama, and the Carolina, if the did that the IQ of Black America would rise at least 30 percent!!!!

    Wait a mintue, why is everyone attacking oprah for helping people in Africa? Many of the things that are offered to americans, people don’t appericate it and abuse it. So why not help out others in a more worse situation than you and who will appericate it. Some sfricans probably don’t have respect for black americans because you don’t respect yourselves, so how can you expect someone else to?
    Grow up and Oprah, I know you’ll come out on top. Its sad that people who are suppposed to help our kids are the same ones doing more harm to them than a neighbor.
    To the lady who can’t get a job because it was exposed thatt she let the sexual abuse go on, HAHAHAHA, that’s goody for your ass and Oprah will win this lawsuit and will still be standing!

    Why doesn’t Oprah have a show on women sexually abusing women, probably because her best friend has been involved in such acts. Where is the outrage? Oh I forgot that is only reserved for men and their behavior, violence acts by women should not be condoned and Oprah should stop being a hypocrite! Violence is violence and shouldn’t be gender specific as Oprah has made a living off of demonizing males only. Speak up women and Oprah!!!
