The African maid accusing former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of rape at a New York hotel, could never have imagined becoming the subject of an international news story.

The woman, whose name and age remain under lock and key, was born in a mud hut in an isolated hamlet in Africa with no electricity or running water. The nearest road was a 10-minute hike.

After she reached her 20’s, the young lady landed in the Bronx, where she worked at an African restaurant until she landed a job as a housekeeper at the Sofitel Hotel.
