A suburban Philadelphia man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly telling his roommates he had run over two kittens with his truck and planned to eat them for dinner.

Police in Chester say 44-year-old Francis McGinley was arrested Sunday night after police found him in the bathroom with the injured kittens, talking to himself.

The 4-week-old animals were alive but badly hurt. They were taken to a veterinary hospital and are expected to recover.

A spokeswoman for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says they will be put up for adoption.

McGinley was arraigned Monday and posted bail. A phone listing for him could not immediately be located.
