From the this-is-getting-so-tired files, George Zimmerman‘s brother, Robert Jr., spoke with Piers Morgan Thursday night to say that even though surveillance video shows that George had no visible bruises or blood on his person, George’s medical records will confirm that he was not only injured by 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, but was in the fight of his life.

On “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Robert said:
“We’re confident the medical records are going to explain all of George’s medical history. His nose looks swollen in that video. I’m his brother.”
Echoing his father’s sentiments about the unknown events, regarding Martin’s murder, Robert continued:
“You return force with force when somebody assaults you. George was out of breath, he was barely conscious. There would have been George dead if he had not acted decisively and instantaneously in that moment when he was being disarmed.”
As Morgan continued to prod Robert about what happened that unfortunate day on February 26, Robert added:
“George showed tremendous restraint. Well, he has taken control of his firearm and he prevented his firearm from being taken for him and that’s called ‘saving your life.'”
Obviously, neither Robert — nor his father — were present when the fatal incident occurred.
To give further insight into the Zimmermans’ claims about George sustaining a broken nose, CNN spoke with Marcia Clark, former prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial, about what actually happens when someone breaks their nose:
“Anyone who’s seen a broken nose is aware of the fact that the blood spurts. That leads to a lot of bleeding. You would have expected to see blood on the front of George Zimmerman’s shirt collar. Blood — you know, in many more places.”
Still, when asked about the murder of Trayvon Martin being a tragedy, Robert said:
“This is a tragedy. Her son was lost. I feel very badly about that and I want, in the end, not for her son’s memory to be seen as how we degraded our system and turned it into mob rule and went into a hate speech. Ultimately, we all wish that this was a different situation.”
As this case continues to unravel, the truth will undoubtedly come out. It is difficult to tolerate anymore quotes from Zimmerman’s family, when they were not present when Martin was murdered. Frankly, everything they are saying is hearsay, and while one should be down for one’s brother, continuing to defend a family member even when it is clear that he has sustained no visible damages, definitively oversteps taking one for the team.
