The victim claims he and Savage went to the movies on July 29, 2012. Afterwards, they went to Savage’s home in LaGrange Park where they engaged in sexual activity. When the victim asked Savage about his HIV status after the encounter, the officer allegedly told him he was positive. The man reported the incident to LaGrange Park police soon after.

Savage was cuffed on Wednesday and suspended as a result of the charges; a spokesperson for the Cicero Police Department said Savage was off-duty during the time of the sexual encounter.

Savage has been a police officer for 13 years.
