STEM: It’s the acronym on the tip of everyone’s tongue and, many say, the future of the American workforce. Sadly, though, few of the jobs in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields go to blacks. And experts agree that as our society moves more toward tech, black children will need to be prepared for these jobs of the future or they’ll be left behind.

Texas congresswoman E.B. Johnson has taken on the issue. She visited “NewsOne Now” Tuesday to share with Roland Martin why it’s so imperative that black children get STEM training. Listen below.

Be sure to listen to “NewsOne Now” with Roland Martin, weekdays at 7 a.m. EST and watch at 9 a.m. EST on TV One.
