The “real” story is in the Hollywood machine fooling the general population into believing that entertainers are important. I do not believe that any child of an actor or singer deserve to be placed above others trying to make their way into the business. There is no special talent exhibited by the Smith children. They are not any more talented than the child of a single mother from Sherman Oaks who spends hours and hours going to auditions, acting classes, and agent meetings in the hope of helping her child reach their dream. The Smith children have everything handed to them on a silver platter. It is not fair to others whom are more talented and actually putting in the required work.

I get her reasoning. It is hard for child actors; she just came off as bitter and not concerned. When your talking about other people’s kids its best to go to them in private. Or at least make it seem like you care about the kids well-being more than bashing the parents for what you feel is bad-parenting. Terry SHOULD apologize. Every time I see those kids interviewed I see very respectful, intelligent and thankful children. I saw Willow tear up and begin crying when an interviewer talked to her about her success once because she was so overwhelmed with the feeling of being so blessed. The Smiths have another son who doesn’t do anything in the public eye, so it is quite likely that they are allowing their children to decide what THEY want to do. Terry came across as jealous if you ask me. How many kids does Terry have, and do they have any talent? And to say they’re “pimping” their children implies that she’s calling them “hoes”. What 40 something year old woman with class would fix her mouth to liken someone else’s bright and talented child to a prostitute? She gets an F- for showing class, maternal instincts, or using positive language to build up and not tear down.

This is the problem with people. They think they know the heart of others. Where is she getting this arrogance thing? Let the Smiths raise their children and she should concentrate on not marrying another gay man who is using her during her desperation for the attention of a man. When did she become an expert on the lives of child stars. She was never one nor is she a licensed psychologist. However, if the children want to be child stars then allow them to be so that they can develop into who they are to become as an adult. Let the children be involved in various activities so that they can figure out what they like.

My cousin did a great job with his kids. One of them was on a tv series and in plays. The other one a model. I see not problems or complaints about them. They turned out just fine.

Part of growing up means finding out who you are and what you like to do. Each of our experiences in live help us develop.

None of us know what the Smith family teaches their kids because we do not live in their home with them.

She is just making a valid observation.She understands that exposing kids too early to the limelight is dangerous to their psychological health.MJ’s life was proof of that.We cant afford to be sentimental and right her off. I think it would be best to understand where she’s coming from.

I can agree with what she is talking about ( Terry just chooses her OWN words to describe them.) and I can recall former-child stars, like Bow Wow, who got famous when he was still in junior high school. (That boy was so popular, he had to be pulled out of school for “special tutoring”.) I’ve never liked Terry McMillan, and this makes me dislike her even more. Does she even have children? She spent her whole entire life angry and the opposite sex. But that’s another story.. Do you even know what their live off camera is like? If you don’t know, then STFU. Will and Jada are two people, while talented, are great role models for their kids. Both Jaden and Willa look like they have a good head on their shoulders. And there are many kids who started young and went on to have successful careers. For every Lindsay Lohan, there is a Natalie Portman. For every Gary Coleman, there is a Jaleel White. You never know how some kids turn out. I understand what Terry is saying and I agree to a certain extent. I have 5 children who can sing, dance, and act. They all want to become stars and live their dreams. I’m pretty sure much of that comes from me because I am an entertainer. In a way, I want to start them out early so that they can grasp a hold of the entertainment industry and learn how to do things for themselves, because I have been trying to go this road for 15 years and never had one person to truly push me to my potential. I encourage my children everyday to be who they want to be. I want them to live a better life that what I have lived. I want them to grow in this business or in any business and learn it early, so that when they do get out there, they won’t make too many mistakes with it. Of course I want them to be kids, but at the same time it’s up to the parents to keep their children in their place instead of letting them take on a lot of grown up responsibilities. You have to shape and mold them into that and allow them to be kids at the same time. It’s more of a guidance thing that will determine the fate of these kids. Believe me, I want my children to advance in music and dance and bring it to the world in a good way, but best believe I’ll be there every step of the way to make sure they do it right.

And I believe The Smith’s children will go far, anyway I’ll pray for them, which is something we all should do. We can’t continue to put down our kids anymore and we gotta push them to their full potential with the talents they have. A lot of that comes from the old days and slavery, when we were told that we could never be anything because we are black. We gotta do better people.

I don’t agree with the pimping or exploitation remarks but, these children definitely display an arrogant behavior. They are talented but will be so when they’re a little older. The old saying practice makes perfect is often true. However i hope they are instilling in them the value of a dollar and hard work, because they’re parents worked very hard to reach their status. They didn’t have a silver spoon. Many child tv/movie stars, and musicians have often fallen on a gravely road. But with strong parental guidance and balance they will tone down the pompous behavior and keep it real. An example Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
