WASHINGTON — President Obama on Friday signed a renewal of the executive order on federal efforts to assist historically black colleges. While the executive order itself follows the form of orders in previous administrations, the head of the Obama administration’s effort for the colleges said that the executive order would set off a change in philosophy on how the government could work with the institutions.
In his remarks, Obama noted the financial challenges facing black colleges (and just about all of higher education) these days, and also their role. “It was because of these schools that America’s middle class was filled with black doctors and educators and judges and lawyers and engineers and entrepreneurs,” he said. “And today, it’s because of these schools that one out of every two wide-eyed freshmen who arrives on their campuses with big backpacks and bigger dreams is the first in his or her family to go to college.”

I think our black Presidennt really need to start stepping up and stop playing into the hands of these other politicians. I don’t care if he was white, lets get sh#t done and help the people of our country and stop catering to the dam politicians, rich people and these big companies that already have enough money. How about catering to the average individual who is working hard eveyday and trying to make a life for themselves. I was excited to have a black President but day by day that exciting is dwindling!

Please with the black colleges crap…It is funny how they all are expensive as hell but they are suppose to be black colleges catering to the black people who most of them are poor and can’t even afford to go to these schools, even with scholarships. They have ndividuals who have positions in the schools who I believe are mismanaging the schools and the funds that come into the schools. I am good at the mixed schools I go to…lol I still get a good education and not have to worry about the BS that black schools bring, not all but most. The President should put money into those schools but hey Mr. President why not make it mandatory that these schools are affordable for black people?

A lot of these HCBU are just poorly managed. FAMU went from College of the Year, to almost losing its accreditation due to the inept people that were running the place.

@ashley118059. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. We should NEVER lose sight of the fact, that above him being black (mixed, bi racial whatever), this man is a politician. Every move he makes has an ulterior motive. He just pledged 1Billion dollars to help “bail out” the Nevada housing market among others. Do you think its a coincidence that it comes on the heels of a hotly contested senate race, in which Harry Reid is in serious trouble? Recent polls has him losing to almost every major challenger. I know some of you don’t believe in polls, but politicians certainly take them very seriously.
Throw some crumbs at these 21st century negroes, to capture more minds for the NeoCoon movement!

Obama is the man. He might not do s**t you like all the time he might not do s**t you want him to do as fast as you want him to do it. But in the end of the day he does what he can to keep us moving forward and be able to be properly represented. And when all is said and done he will leave the white house in a respectful manner so another black man or woman can serve again in the future without having to bear his leftover baggage.
