Jesse Lee Peterson is talking about thanking God for slavery and saying that whites and Arabs sold Africans into slavery…when the truth is, African kings and queens sold their OWN people into slavery. For what reason, I don’t know, but this guy really needs to get his facts straight before he starts making an ass of himself on national television or radio…

African Kings and queens sold black people in to slavery? The whole world was was involved in slavery. The fact is that slavery was a culture in Africa between waring tribes. Any African or Arab that was involved in slavery with the whites did know that white slavery was different from the type of slavery accustomed in Africa and the arab world.

These 5 individuals are the classic example of “Wanna-be’s”. Want to be “White Exceptable”, at the expense of their OWN identity. While I agree with your sentiments (I find most of the people you’ve listed here disagreeable at best), I do wonder if you have an editor and a fact-checker. It’s “Fox News”, not “Fox news”. Jeremiah Wright was the pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, not Trinity Baptist Church. There is a sentence that reads: “They often or the mouthpieces for the things that even Fox is too racist to say.” Another reads “Angela attacked Michelle Obama on the Bill O’Reilly comparing her to gangster rappers”. Read those sentences over again to see the obvious mistakes.

This is just ludicrous. I am a black man and I worked for Fox in L.A. for more than 8 years. I know many of these people and to say that these people are Uncle Tom’s or sell out is rather irrational and childish to say the least. There is nothing wrong with Fox. Sometimes you may have an individual or individuals that might say something inappropriate, but that can be said about anyone at any given time, but we as black people often tend to jump the gun and cry “racism” and that shouldn’t be. We all have opposing views and they should all be respected. I am a black conservative, I am proud and there is nothing wrong with that. If people cannot understand that, then that is their personal problem, NOT mine. It seems like no one can or has the right to complain or be critical of black folks except black people, to me that is crazy. It is sad to think that in order to have a broad cross section of opinions, Fox news thinks these individuals are relevant, and non-pandering. First of all, Presidnt Obama is ONLY African American because his father REALLY is from Africa. His mother is white and that makes him MIXED.
Lets start callin it what it is. My mother is BLACK and my father is PUERTO RICAN. It offends me as a person of mixed nationality when my race is singled out as one ethnicity and it SHOULD offend others who are the same.

I remember a manager I once had telling how race can sometimes be a distraction from base human nature. He explained how, without exception, power corrupts. Go anywhere in the world and you’ll see people of all races doing unspeakable things to their own race. Which is where this discussion should really take a foothold in the minds of all black Americans.
Each individual black person has the past, present and future being graded for them on the color of their skin; more importantly on all the stereotypes associated with skin color and the fears that accompany those stereotypes. Now, why would I say the future? How long do you think it will take before racism in America is undone completely? Am I being rhetorical or just stating the truth, or both?
The difference “should be” what black people would do if we were in power. Let me illustrate how things are “colored,” if you will, for me. I grew up poor, on welfare, to a single mother who eventually committed suicide by drug overdose. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve a post secondary education. All said and done I’ve seen both sides of the fence with regards to race relations. I’ve seen the eternal black distrust of whites. I’ve seen the snide elitism of whites towards me. I’ve nearly seen it all. And knowing what I know I believe it is up to me not to take the spirit of revenge for that is another form of hatred. It is up to me not to look down on others even less fortunate than I. It is up to me not to allow money and power to consume my being at the expense of my fellow man. It is up to me to undo all that was done to me so that it isn’t done to another person.
Yet it isn’t the case here in America. For many black people America has forgotten about us. When you realize that the so called “American dream” doesn’t exist for many of us, black, white or whatever it makes it hard to say you are a patriot. For now, the America I love is an idea, a theory that was written on doc**ents long ago. A few have commented on Michelle Obama’s remark about her pride in the country. She didn’t speak out AGAINST the U.S., she stated that she had never been more proud than she was at that moment. And even if she spoke the words as if she had not been proud before, what does that matter? The requirement isn’t that any individual citizen has to be proud of their country at all times. It is that as citizens we are loyal to it and that we defend it. Should any of us be proud about the Iraq War? Should we be proud about the way the GOP gutted and eliminated affirmative action? Or our use of torture? How about any of another dozen or so things that were perpetrated in the last 8 years, like say, the government (and therefore the country’s) response to Katrina? I can tell you that nowhere near 100% of the people – of any race or creed – is proud of this place at all times, or the majority of the time, unless it is doing things that they identify with as being correct. So quit feigning outrage and villifying the woman. From all accounts she has been a more model citizen than most of us, has participated in righting wrongs and being a role model, and is certainly proud of the way we, the citizens of this great country, have pulled closer together and looked past so many of the “issues” the fear-mongerers were fomenting to keep themselves in power.

We really need to start thinking for ourselves and investigating the claims people make for ourselves, because the sad fact of the matter is, just because somebody is black and pretends to be standing up for the race, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re telling you the absolute truth. Now the claim that only “10%” of Blacks consider themselves conservative is laughably ignorant. What’s the basis of such a claim? Mere speculation? NO, we are mostly a morally and theologically conservative people. And even when politics comes into play, when these merge with theology and morality, we find that we still are conservative.

There is a reason why many voted for the liberal Obama but voted conservatively on Prop. 8 against gay marriage in California. So the idea that Black conservatives are some great minority is a myth with no substantive proof. If anyone wants to PROVE otherwise, then they are welcomed to do so. But the key word is PROVE.

Some people have issues. The 10% number is a rough guess based on voting pattern and current registrations. 10% of Blacks were registered as Republicians in this election and 10% of Blacks voted for Bush in 2004. This is the number that even FOX news has thrown out so what’s the problem?????

Secondly, the Prop 8 in CA was poorly understood by many people. Demographically, the biggest drop was in older Black and Latino voters. Many believed that it would given sanction to gay marriage in their own individual churches. The bill only addresses the civil issues of marriage and not religious issues.

Do all Blacks think the same??? Absolutely not!!! but most Blacks by & large do no buy into American conservatism.. This is what makes guys like Larry Elders look so out of touch with reality…

Just as I thought. No valid support for the claim, and a weak argument against the fact that we did not fall for the foolishness of Prop. 8. And to even suggest that many didn’t understand the Prop. is either deliberately naive or ignorant. I knew exactly what I was voting for and against when I supported Prop. 8. I have so many thoughts concerning this post and this blog page in particular. Obviously, the page was created to ” expose ” black men and women as racists. When does presenting a different point of view considered racist? Oh yeah, right here in America. To continually attempt to tear down other black Americans because they’re talking and writing books and appearing on Fox News is not a sin. It is not ” turning your back on your race “. If you have strong disagreements with these individuals or anyone else not worshiping at the church of Obama; then bring your answers. What is your plan for resurrecting the inner cities out of poverty? What are you going to do to keep Planned Parenthood from aborting 20,000 black babies every year because irresponsible boys don’t want nothing to do with being a responsible adult. Why can’t half of blacks graduating from public schools read and write in a complete sentence, much less talk without using so much profanity? As far as I’m concerned, I do not bow down to the self/media made man-child idol Obama because it doesn’t change a thing. Poor black neighborhoods are going to stay that way. People who can’t read and write are still not encouraged to learn because the gov’mt will send you a check. This past election has prove that anything is possible if you believe, ironically these same people are saying stay poor, pregnant, illiterate and stupid and the check is in the mail.

Juan Williams is a oddity on several fronts in his assessments of black people. Mr Casey gave Juan credit for at least being caught up enough in the moment of Obama’s election to cry. However, did he watch long enough to witness Juan attacking other commentators on the set that night who tried to tear down the significents of that historic night?
I’m not going to make a strong case of defending this man’s views of African Americans. I can’t. But there are others on this list worst than him.

Firt I want to say that as a young black man, I am very disappointed by all our black leaders right now because there behavior is not that of and adult it’s that of and young child that hasn’t gotten there way. If someone could show proof that most Blacks are conservative-I’m all for it??? Once again the proof is in the results. Black Republican candidates do horribly(spelling???) among Black people… The most recent example was in 2006 when Michael Steele ran for Senator of MD. Mr. Steele (a Black Republican) only received about 30% of the Black vote according to the pollsters and subsequently lost. His biggest problem was in the Baltimore areas where he lost entire districts… Had he gotten some of these votes he would have won…

Many Blacks are social conservatives but politically moderate to liberal. A lot of this stems around civil rights and equality of opportunity.

Most conservatives(particularily the White ones) have no problem with police brutality against Blacks or other minorities–the basic line is cops are good and the people deserved it?!@* In the areas of equal opportunities guys like Larry Elder believe everything is fair and Blacks and other minorities should stop complaining etc. These are the areas that don’t fly with most Blacks. I’m a descendant of Josiah Henson. He is the man whom Harriet Beecher Stowe used to pattern her character in “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” after. My great-great grandfather was a strong man of considerable influence. He was the last stop on the underground railroad in Canada. He established a community of free slaves. He even came back into the states on at least two separate occasions to free other slaves. He set up a school, church etc. He built custom made furniture that he sold in England and was invited several times to come and visit the queen. When Harriet Beecher Stowe met him, she was impressed with his oratory expertise, his strength and what he was able to accomplish. She gave him a great honor in return by immortalizing him in a novel. It’s offensive to include Larry Elder’s in any conversation to the greatness of Josiah Henson. He could never be half the man my grandfather was. We have a museum in Dresden, Ontario Canada chronicling the entire story. It’s time for the record to be set straight. Uncle Tom is not a black man selling out his people. Get to know the real story behind the real man before using that term again.

Again, I think people see whatever they want to see and sometimes when you looks for a flaw or something to gripe about then you can always find a flaw in anything if you look long and hard. We as Black people have a real double-standard when it comes to giving criticism and receiving criticism. If Whites are critical about Blacks, Blacks cry racism, When Blacks are critical of other Blacks we criticize them as Uncle Tom’s. This is kind of thinking is abstract, counter-productive and gives us as a race NO credibility. Fox is Not racist, again can we see and know what is in someone else’s heart and mind, No, we cannot. Obama is not a Messiah that we cannot comment on, whether we are traditionalists or conservatives. It makes no difference. He is a man first, who happens to be biracial also which people seem to forget.
He says he identifies with Black and Black culture that’s fine, but we seem to forget he does have a White parent also. Let’s not forget that! Since the American media is 90% liberal and Fox takes a more traditional tone. Anything analytical that is said about ANY prominent Black leader constantly gets misconstrued. Juan Williams is as liberal as they come. Is he an Uncle Tom? Why, because he has strong opinions that usually lead into facts, but because he works for a traditional News network that now disqualifies him or gives him less credibility to pass judgement?? How crazy is that? The same goes for Larry Elder. We as a race really need to wake up and admit to some of these accusations and say to ourselves, yes, there are many problems within the black community and we really need a change, NOT only in Washington. We WILL be left behind if we don’t change. The Hispanic population, the Koreans, the Indians and others are more prosperous than we are. And the best is to complain about which Blacks are Uncle Tom’s? We have more important things to do than worry about this nonsense. They will do(and rightfully so)what they do, if you don’t like it, turn off the TV or watch MSNBC. You have the power just as they do. No one is forcing anyone to watch them. I admire them immensely , you have the right to disagree.

I congradulate the success of ANY black man or woman. While I agree with the sentiments of many that we blacks should exercise our right to free speech, I think the problem here becomes that too many blacks think free speech and freedom of choice means to totally demean the opposition rather than just voicing their support for their personal favorite candidate. I just had Angela McGlowan on our show last week. I must say I was ready to pounce on her for any slight against our people. But I was totally disarmed my her VERY LIKABLE, and endearing demeanor when she arrived. I must admit, I don’t think she believes half the stuff she says on O’reily’s show. She’s making a fortune by capitalizing on the racism of whites and being the talking head for the those with racist agendas, but she really does raise some good points about the Democratic Party’s relationship with black America. We talked about how Democratic party policies have systematically destroyed the black family, and has many us voting against our most deeply held values for the benefit of government programs and a sense of false loyalty we THINK they have to us.
However when I asked her about the alternative, the Republican party and why they alienate blacks that could potentially be a strong voting base through racial code speech, she replied that “Republicans are notoriously clumsy communicators”. All in all, I think she’s a charming and very intelligent woman and we should consider SOME of the subject matter in her book BAMBOOZLED. I think its important not to let any ONE political party feel that our vote is guaranteed.

I don’t why some people think that just because you may share skin color you are all on the same team. That’s like saying “All Germans were Nazis”. I can’t say I agree with Larry Elder, but I do agree (at least the info in the book)with Juan William’s book “Enough”. IMHO,that should be REQUIRED reading. But other than make you feel good about yourselves (and maybe that is enough), what specifically has he done to help blacks in America? What did Clinton do? What did Carter do? So other than mis-guided perceptions, why do you support the Democratic Party? I have been asked this question so many times, and I have never once been able to come up with an answer.

Chill, dude, there all kinds of stats floating around. Like STD’s are anywhere from 9%-20% higher than white’s. Drop out rate’s, especially for African American men. I know because I was a high school science teacher. Out of a class of thirty I would have four girls and one boy who would want to learn. I have not kept updated lately what, is going on in Africa, I still think Africans are killing Africans. Yes, Indians killed Indians! Yes, whites killed too! Truth, Latinos are kicking your but. Soon they will get tired of supporting your (and white) WIC, because they are working their butt’s off.
