Fact: The President of the United States has no power or jurisdiction to stop a state execution.
The only people that can actually *do* something about this are the state government (specifically the DA) or the Supreme Court, of which most of the members were appointed under Bush, not Obama.

The President has no jurisdiction to intervene in any way (whether it be to drop it, commute it, or grant clemency) because carrying out the death penalty is a *state* issue. It is up to the DA of Georgia or the Supreme Court at this point.

Maybe the President can not Pardon or Commute Death Row Inmates – but they can Pardon others wrongfully accused and those received much higher sentences that do not fit the crime.
