An accused child-rapist is being allowed to screen hours of child pornography from jail,  Washington’s KOMO-TV reports.

The Washington State Supreme Court has ruled that Weldon Marc Gilbert, on trial for raping a young boy and producing child pornography, can screen over 100 hours of child porn held as evidence in his case. The court said Gilbert has the right to review the evidence against him because he is acting as his own attorney in the case.

“In my 16 years as a prosecutor, this is one of the most absurd and maddening results I’ve ever heard of, and this is the first time I’m aware of this happening in Pierce County,” Mark Lindquist, a prosecutor in Pierce County, told ABCNews.com.
