WASHINGTON–The 2012 presidential election is slowly catching steam as candidates prepare their plans of attack. President Obama has reportedly set his sights on the former Republican governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney.

According to reports, the Obama camapign is actively planning its “Kill Romney” plan, an effort to destroy Romney’s reputation with ferocious personal assaults.

Romney, who is seen by most as the current GOP front runner, struck back Tuesday, rolling out an ad using Obama’s own words from a speech in which he called for “a more civil and honest discourse.”

Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt took issue with the Politico report, saying, “Voters will have a choice in this election between two candidates, two records and two visions for the country, one that will become clear after the Republican field has settled and they have chosen a nominee.
