Just over a week ago, the hip-hop musical phenom, Lil Wayne (pictured), was reportedly lying in an intensive care hospital bed for six days at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center suffering from seizures. Now the rapper has reportedly sent TMZ a video, where he is seen appearing like the perfect picture of health.

Waving a lollipop in his hand and cheesing, the pint-sized performer assures his fans in a short video that he is doing just fine:

“I just want to say thank you to all y’all for y’all prayers and your concerns and all that. I swear to God I felt that love when I was laid up in that mother—-in’ hospital bed. I want all y’all to know that I’m good … more than good.”

The 30-year-old assured his fans that he feels great and is looking forward to his album drop on March 26 and his tour, which starts on July 5.

Many of Wayne’s fans were biting their nails when word got out that he had allegedly overdosed on sizzurp, or purple drank, which is a concoction made up of a promethazine and a codeine-based cough syrup mixed with a fruit-flavored soda and sometimes a hard candy like Jolly Ranchers. Vodka or crushed painkillers are sometimes added to the drink.

Sizzurp-sized helpings of cough syrup can exceed up to 25 times the recommended dosage, so drinking the sweet beverage can cause motor-skill impairment, lethargy, and drowsiness. It can also cause seizures, with some reporting a hallucinogenic effect as well when consuming the drink.

The performer has made no secret of his affinity toward the sweet concoction. As a matter of fact, he has laced a few of his rap lyrics with references to the drug as in the song, “Watch My Shoes,” where he rhymes,”Syrup got me slow, like a turtle.”

Wayne’s camp has not confirmed that his recent hospitalization had been caused by a sizzurp overdose.
