Police brutality has become a prevalent issue on college and university campuses. Last May Dr. Ersula Ore, an English professor at Arizona State University, was violently pushed and slammed to the ground by a campus police officer after she refused to show identification while trying to cross a campus street. Earlier this week, months after the controversial incident took place, Officer Stewart Ferrin resigned. Ferrin penned a letter to ASU police chief Mike Thompson stating that while he was on leave following the incident he underwent financial burdens and had to deal with emotional distress. He claimed that the incident prevented him from forwarding his career within the agency and pursing other opportunities. “The lack of support, cooperation, and downright bias coupled with an agenda to ruin my career, has become unbearable and I will not subject my family to this any longer,” read Ferrin’s letter. Last November Dr. Ore filed a $2 million lawsuit against ASU claiming that she was falsely arrested. Last month Ferrin was notified by the agency that he would be fired. Read more.

Calling all “Living Single” fans! If you loved the ladies on the show, then you’re bound to love their new web series project. Former cast members Erika Alexander and Kim Coles have joined forces to launch a new web series called “The BFF Chronicles.” The series will feature conversations about the entertainment industry, relationships, life experiences and more. Amar’e Stoudemire’s Salary to Drop by Millions after Trade

This season has been a rocky road for the New York Knicks. During All-Star Weekend the team lost NBA veteran Amar’e Stoudemire, one of their most valuable players. Stoudemire decided to opt out of his $100 million deal with the New York Knicks. He has decided to take a minimum wage deal with the Dallas Mavericks. With new ventures comes sacrifice. The Knicks are expected to payout the balance of his final salary at about $24 million. According to ESPN when Stoudemire gets to Dallas they would only be able to offer him $477,000, which is the prorated veteran’s minimum. “Although I leave the Knicks with a heavy heart, I wish the organization the best of luck. Once a Knick always a Knick,” Stoudemire said in a statement. Read more.
