Virginia Implements New Voting Law for Prisoners
Those who have been imprisoned face many hardships upon being released and reentering society; a new law will aid in changing that. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said the state would get rid of a rule that made it mandatory for felons to pay court fees before they could register to vote. The revised regulation will still require felons to pay fees, but if they are unable to do so, they won’t be restricted from voting. The American Civil Liberties Union and other civil rights-focused groups have been fighting for this change for a long time. “These changes move the Commonwealth forward at a time when voter participation is particularly important to the future ecumenic prosperity of our minority communities,” said State Sen. Shaun Robinson Leaves “Access Hollywood” After 16 Years
After nearly two decades on Access Hollywood, reporter Shaun Robinson will be leaving the show. Robinson, who is also a producer and author, has inked a deal with NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution. She will use this opportunity to focus on the development and production side of her career. Under the deal, Robinson will be able to grow her Robinhood Productions, Inc. brand, and create television projects under NBCUniversal’s umbrella. “It’s been an extraordinary 16 years here at ‘Access Hollywood’ and I am going to miss all my friends here because we are truly like a family. Kenya Spends Millions Preparing for President Obama’s Visit
President Obama is slated to visit Kenya soon and the African country is hard at work trying to change its landscape to make it fitting for his arrival. According to reports, there have been millions of dollars put into restoring main roads, fixing gutters, and planting flowers. “His coming will help the economy,” said a local from the same town that President Obama’s father was born in. “We believe that when he comes, many things will change.” They are hoping his visit will restore a sense of hope in the country.
