Prepare to be inspired by Oprah Winfrey’s latest endeavor — a memoir.
Deadline reports the media mogul has signed a deal with Flatiron Books publishing, a division of Macmillan, to release The Life You Want. The memoir will include key moments in Winfrey’s life, as well as lessons readers can hold dear. The eight-figure deal also includes her own publishing imprint that will release a handful of non-fiction books personally picked by the mogul every year.
Winfrey released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on what many are calling the biggest autobiography deal in recent memory.
Winfrey said in a statement she hopes her story “inspires other people to live the highest, fullest expression of themselves” and that “anyone can put their life on a new trajectory.”She added the book will feature never-before-told stories, “even the painful ones.”Winfrey is said to be in the very earliest stages of the writing process.
In 2014, Flatiron released What I Know for Sure, a collection of columns from Oprah’s O Magazine. The book went on to become a New York Times bestseller.
Bob Miller, president of Flatiron Books, also released a statement about their new deal with Oprah.
“We’re deeply honored to publish The Life You Want, which is such a remarkable combination of Oprah’s life story and the lessons we can all draw from it for our personal growth,” said Bob Miller, president and publisher of Flatiron Books. “We’re also thrilled to give a home to Oprah’s imprint titles. We all know how extraordinary Oprah’s instincts are when it comes to choosing books, instincts borne of her lifelong love of reading and the power of the written word.”
The Life You Want will be released in January 2017.
