On Wednesday, iconic performer Janet Jackson took to social media to quell reports that she was battling cancer.
After postponing her upcoming Unbreakable World Tour due to health reasons, Janet Jackson faced a lot of backlash. Not only did fans question her reasoning behind making the sudden announcement, many speculated that Janet was secretly diagnosed with throat cancer. The singer, 49, — who is also the third act to earn No. 1 albums in each of the last four decades — was scheduled to begin her tour Jan. 9 at Denver’s Pepsi Center, but that date was also pushed back.
She began with a tweet from her reps, stating, “It was Janet’s wish not to make any further comments about her health, however, because of the great concern from around the world, Janet will be releasing a personal message shortly. -Janet’s Team”
She then followed up with a very personal tweet, including a lyric video to her song “The Great Forever” off her Unbreakable album. The video, featuring very fitting lyrics, included a bonus stating that she does not have cancer, adding that she loves her fans very much and will be rescheduling the tour .
When the tour is rescheduled, it will be Janet’s first world tour since 2011.
