A Minnesota judge on Thursday signed a warrant to search the premises of Prince‘s Paisley Park estate after the singer was found dead in an elevator inside his home, reports ABC News.
The court issued the sealed warrant nearly a week after the beloved musician was discovered dead, notes the report:
Disclosing the details of what the sheriff’s deputies are searching for, court documents say, could compromise the investigation.
The paperwork was filed one day after law enforcement sources told ABC News that prescription drugs were found in Prince’s possession and at his home.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office has contacted the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration about the possibility of assisting in the investigation if the pharmaceuticals are found to be related to the singer’s death.

The federal Drug Enforcement Agency is joining Minnesota law enforcement authorities in an investigation into the death of music icon Prince, who allegedly was found with prescription painkillers at the time of his death, reports PEOPLE magazine.
It has not yet been determined whether the medication played a part in his death, the report says, but sources claim that the reclusive musician was once addicted to Percocet, a highly potent prescription painkiller, the magazine writes:
“An autopsy of Prince’s body was conducted just one day after he was found unresponsive in an elevator at his famed Paisley Park estate outside Minneapolis. While the medical examiner found ‘no obvious signs of trauma,’ toxicology reports may take weeks to complete.”
Local authorities requested assistance from the DEA in an effort to help track down the origin of the medication and to determine if other drugs could have contributed to his death, the report says.
Shortly before his death, Prince’s plane made an emergency landing because of a health scare during the flight. Workers reportedly found the singer unresponsive and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors had to resuscitate him. His brother-in-law said the artist stayed awake for 154 hours straight prior to his death.
It could be up to six weeks for toxicology results to be released. Prince’s remains were cremated and released to his family.
