Baltimore Police Sgt. Alicia White and officer William Porter are scheduled to receive $96,855 and $70,523, respectively, when Baltimore City’s Board of Estimates authorizes a back pay deposit scheduled for August 24. White and Porter are the third and fourth officers to receive back pay, after three officers were acquitted and charges against the remaining officers were dropped in Freddie Gray’s death. Ciara Joins Gabby Douglas As Miss America Pageant Judge

Ciara was just announced as a judge in the 2017 Miss America Pageant. The popular songstress, still riding high from her recent marriage to NFL star Russell Wilson, will join Olympian Gabby Douglas and entrepreneur Mark Cuban on the judges’ panel. Jennifer Holliday Makes Triumphant Return To ‘The Great White Way’

Jennifer Holliday, the original “Dreamgirl,” is taking on the enigmatic role of “Shug Avery” in Broadway’s revival of The Color Purple. Holliday will replace singer Heather Headley, who currently stars as Avery, on October 4. Jennifer Hudson, the famed Oscar winner and American Idol alum, originally took on the role during the play’s opening in December 2015 until May. Read more.


Brooklyn D.A. In Hot Water, Fined $15,000 For Violating City Ethic Rules

Ken Thompson, Brooklyn’s district attorney, faces a $15,000 fine after city officials say he used NYPD bodyguards to pay for his lunch, then reimbursed them with taxpayer funds. The Conflicts of Interest Board ruled on Tuesday after revealing that Thompson repeatedly asked security detail to purchase food with their own money during the first five months of his tenure in 2014. Read more.
