UPDATE: 2:54 p.m. EDT — Adam Bloom is the latest nosy white person to become a viral sensation for profiling Black folks. After a video of him demanding a Black mother show photo identification to prove she could be in a the neighborhood’s swimming pool went viral, he has now lost his job.

The New York Post reports, “Sonoco announced Friday that Adam Bloom is no longer employed by the packaging and industrial products company, saying it doesn’t condone discrimination of any kind, even if it happens outside its workplace.” The company wrote on Twitter, “We are aware of a terrible incident involving the actions of one our employees outside of the workplace, and we have released this statement.” See the post below:

Bloom was also kicked off the board of the homeowner’s association. Jasmine Sanders, the woman who was profiled with her child, said in her Facebook video that she lived in a “half a million” dollar neighborhood,

Sounds like Bloom is going to need to bloom into another gig quickly.

Original story:

White people are seriously protective over swimming pools.

On Independence Day, a white man had a privileged, racist break down because a Black mother and her child was at a swimming pool in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The man, who has reportedly been identified as Adam Bloom, demanded a mother and son show him their identification to swim at a pool, when they refused, Bloom called the police.

Only residents who live in the area are allowed to use the pool and Bloom did not believe they were residents. Jasmine Edwards, the mother, wrote on Facebook, “This is a classic case of racial profiling in my half a million $$ neighborhood pool. This happened to me and my baby today. What a shame!!” Edwards had a pool card, which is the only way she could entered the fenced in pool, she even said, “Do you think I climbed over my fence with a baby into the pool?” The cops even forced Edwards to use her pool card in front of Bloom to make him happy, yet he still wanted id of a proof of address.

See the video below:

Bloom was a “pool chairman and board member,” but he resigned from his position. The homeowner’s association released the following statement, “We sincerely regret that an incident occurred yesterday at our community pool that left neighbors feeling racially profiled. In confronting and calling the police on one of our neighbors, the pool chair escalated a situation in a way that does not reflect the inclusive values Glenridge seeks to uphold as a community.”

Bloom’s lawyer John Vermitsky whined for Bloom, who was too cowardly to make his own statement, and tried to frame him as the victim to The New York Post, claiming it was not racial profiling, “It’s dangerous when we paint with a broad brush and label that as being the motivation for all these things. This poor guy is being crucified…for doing something he was appointed to do.”

In Bloom’s mind, he was appointed to ask for identification for people who already have their pool card. But, clearly, the homeowner’s association disagreed. The lawyer also added, “This guy is really having a very difficult situation and dealing with backlash for something that’s pretty undeserved. If you notice, he remains very calm — doesn’t make any racial epithets or anything. He was put in a very uncomfortable situation, trying to deal with conflicting responsibilities, and it’s simply unfair. This guy is in a very difficult situation, and it’s all because of a very misleading video.”

Another example of white folks not knowing how to mind their damn business.
