A dispute pitting a Boston Red Sox fan from New Hampshire against a New York Yankees fan from New Haven turned ugly at the Chowder Pot III Restaurant Saturday night, landing both men in the hospital and resulting in the Yankees fan’s arrest after he allegedly stabbed the Red Sox fan, police said.
The New Hampshire man and Red Sox fan, Monte Freire, 43, of Nashua, was in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he underwent surgery after initially being treated at the scene by Branford Fire Department paramedics, said police Capt. Geoffrey Morgan.
