Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced Dr. Joseph Ladapo, a Nigerian-born, Harvard-trained UCLA researcher who opposes mask and vaccine mandates, as Florida's new surgeon general.
Vice President Mike Pence administered the oath of office to Dr. Jerome Adams, who is now the nation's 20th surgeon general.
Dr. Jerome Adams, an anesthesiologist, is currently Indiana's health commissioner.
Rear Adm. Sylvia Trent-Adams will replace Vivek H. Murthy as Surgeon General.
