Rebekah Brooks, former News International chief executive, was arrested by British police Sunday for allegations of corruption and phone hacking.

Brooks is the 10th person to be arrested in connection with an investigation of phone hacking at the News of the World, a British tabloid owned by Rupert Murdoch’s news conglomerate News Corporation. News Corp. is also the parent company of Fox News.

Upon the investigation, Murdoch closed down the tabloid, which was accused of hacking into the cell phones of deceased victims of the 7/7 London bombings.

The Huffington Post Reports:

Brooks is due to appear before parliament’s culture, media and sport select committee on Tuesday afternoon.

Rebekah Brooks has released a statement saying she is assisting police with her inquiries, and this was a pre-arranged appointment.
