After the tabloids informed “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Porsha Stewart (pictured) that her husband Kordell (pictured) was seeking a divorce, she decided to file her own papers seeking alimony, reports the Daily Mail.
In the filing, Porsha is also reportedly seeking the use of the Atlanta mansion the couple shared. When Kordell filed his divorce papers on March 22 at the Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia, he claimed that his wife of nearly two years did not need any support from him at all. He claimed a prenuptial was signed, writing: “[She’s] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself.”
According to her unidentified legal counsel, who spoke to US Weekly, his client basically gave up her career, devoted herself to Kordell and became a stepmom to his son from a previous relationship. Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her, according to the entertainment news magazine.
The couple’s surprising breakup comes on the heels of an unceasing rumorabout Kordell’s sexuality that has plagued him since 1997; allegations about the 40-year-old’s sexual preference has again become fodder for the media.
Just three months ago, Portia, 31, went on a popular syndicated radio show, Power 105 FM’s “Breakfast Club,” hosted by famed announcer, Charlemagne Tha God. The young Atlanta socialite and granddaughter of civil-rights leader, Hosea Williams, staunchly defended her husband’s questionable sexuality. Charlemagne brought up the rumor that Kordell had been busted by Pittsburgh police, catching him in an uncompromising position with another man in a park a few years ago.
He stated that Pittsburgh police did not opt to go public about Kordell’s alleged bust because he was a “star quarterback” at the time. Porsha responded: “I don’t know any details of all that. There’s lies out there on the Internet about all kinds of celebrities. “One thing I do [know] is my husband loves me, and he puts it down and I will be with him forever. He’s more man to me than I have ever met.”
