Actress and R&B songstress Jennifer Hudson (pictured) certainly knows how to reward those folks closest to her in a major way! The stage and screen diva recently gifted her longtime assistant and confidant Walter Williams (pictured below) with a present he never even would have imagined receiving: the deed to his very own house, according to the Daily Mail.
Hudson and Williams go way back to sixth grade, when they attended the same elementary school in Chicago together. After rising to fame in 2004 as a finalist on the third season of the mega-TV hit show “American Idol,” Williams always told Hudson that he’d be her manager once her career took off. The 32-year-old “Black Nativity” star pooh-poohed her best bud’s attempts at handling her career and instead made Williams her assistant.
The “partners-in-crime” have been inseparable since childhood, and Hudson credits her friend with being her rock, particularly during the most-difficult time of her life. Williams helped Hudson cope, after her mother, brother, and nephew were brutally murdered by brother-in-law William Balfour back in 2008.
Hudson gives props to Williams for encouraging her to forge on in the music business; he also reportedly taught her about music outside of the church.
Williams, who was at Hudson’s home when he received his lavish gift, could not believe his eyes as he read through the deed he was handed. After the 32-year-old glanced at the document, he dropped it.
Williams then picked up the deed again, and when he realized the document was in his name, he squealed with joy and ran toward his best bud to playfully pounce on her.
Hudson recorded Williams’ reaction to his Christmas gift and placed the video on Instagram.
