When someone decides to make the big leap to run for president they have to expect their personal life to be scrutinized. However, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker has had dating life under a microscope for years. For the time first-time ever, his reported girlfriend is speaking out — and it’s actress Rosario Dawson.

The actress told TMZ they are “very much so” in a relationship. Just said the relationship is “so far so wonderful. He’s a wonderful human being.” Dawson said she had no idea if they would get married but “I’m grateful to be with someone I respect, love and admire so much who is so brilliant, kind and caring — loving.”

The two have been rumored to be dating for awhile. When Booker appeared “The Breakfast Club” last month, he was asked by Charlamagne Tha God about his relationship status. “You don’t want to marry somebody now. Once you start getting hot, you might become president? She might just want you for that.”

Booker chuckled, “No, before I declared president, I’m dating somebody really special.”

“Oh! So Cory Booker got a boo?” Charlamagne quizzed.

“I, I got a boo,” Booker answered. See below at the 31-minute mark.

Part of the reason why Booker’s relationship status has been in question is that he’s been accused of being gay since former Newark Mayor Sharpe James made up the rumor (along that Booker took money from the KKK) when they were campaigning against each other in 2002. The rumor, which is rooted in homophobia, stuck for years.

In December, Booker told The Philadelphia Inquirer, “I’m heterosexual.” He added, “Every candidate should run on their authentic self, tell their truth, and more importantly, or mostly importantly, talk about their vision for the country.”

But will the American public be open to an unmarried president? The last man who wasn’t married that was elected as a president was Governor Grover Cleveland of New York who defeated Republican James G. Blaine of Maine in 1884. However, two years into being in office, he married a 21-year-old Frances Folsom Cleveland.

You never know. Maybe Dawson and Booker will tie the knot sooner than later.
