This Dr certainly had questionable ethics and he was at least partially responsible. I do however think that Micheal Jackson played a role in his own demise! The man was addicted to painkillers and from most accounts he had been for quite some time. His own family could not help him!He shut them out and surrounded himself with individuals that were willing to give him what he wanted without a hassle.I feel very badly that he’s gone because he was on the brink of a come back and had 3 children, who are missing their dad. I do think that most addicts won’t get help until they are ready to.Acknowledging that you have a problem and need help is the first step!

I think this is a justified prosecution of a man who knowingly used a drug without the proper precautions in place. Additionally, the blatant act of irresponsibility around performing CPR on a bed. Damn 4 years in prison and thats it ……. Our justice system sucks monkey balls…..

I’m happy doc isn’t spending the rest of his life in prison. MJ was doing drugs long before this doc. If he didn’t kill MJ who would. Michael was 50 and knew the risk of dying from these drugs. Hey doc Maybe you will seek out my legal business in the future.

Anyway, Murray had access to a myriad of drugs, was handsomely paid and did Michael’s bidding. But in CONSCIENCE? Murray knew better and was also aware that Michael had drug-seeking behavior that was out of control that should have been “heeded and treated.”

This story is such a tragic story because Michael Jackson was such a great entertainer and humanitarian who had a drug addiction that spiraled out of control. He was confronted by both family and friends about his drug addiction but did not seek help for his addiction because he felt as if he did not have a problem. Conrad Murray amongst many other individuals also contributed to Michael’s continue drug use. The reason being because they were willing to do anything and give Michael anything if the price was right. Money speaks volumes and Michael spoke Conrad’s price. It is unfortunate that he is only spending four years behind bars if he evens sees a day behind bars but he is being punished for all the other individuals who were apart of Michael’s death he just so happened to be around when the king of pop passed away. To all of those other individuals they will have to live with that on their conscious for the rest of their lives.

i think a lot of people is missing the point. micheal vick spent two years in prison and lost 130 million dollars over some dam dogs. and this doctor help Killed our Icon(michealjackson)and all he will do is 4 years? had that been bozzo the clown he would do life in jail. i am out raged because he knew the risks. i say he should do 20 years minimum. because it was micheal it is just plain wrong!!!! 4 years….

@allwayslooking. Fair question. Knowing what I now know about addiction from working with addicts, I understand that the problem is deeply rooted. Michael was an addict, lets not lose sight of that and he would have gotten that or any other drug he wanted one way or another. There are doctors all over the world as we speak administering drugs to patients that they have no real knowledge of. Would I be upset with the Dr. if he did that to my loved one? perhaps, but I would have already known he/she was on a slippery slope to self-destruction, and taking out my frustration on a 3rd party is useless. Again, this man’s intent was to help MJ out, in spite of how mis guided he may have been. Strip him of his license, and put him on probation (20 years if possible) but jail time serves no real purpose.

@smileofsunshine1, you use terms like “such a large dose” How did you arrive at that? (if that has been reported, then I stand corrected, but I’m not following this case down to every detail). Again, this is a drug that is commonly used, it’s not as if its illegal to use on human beings. Granted, it was used in a setting that is a violation, but it’s not as if he injected arsenic or some other poison into him. Hell, I would put the CEO of Dole foods, or people at the FDA, who knowingly ignore information about health risks in foods, in jail, before I put this Dr. there! Your analogy about the person being hit by the car isn’t appropriate in this case, because those are typically innocent victims. Michael was culpable in this case.

I agree with Malcolm. Our country is obsessed with finding someone to blame for anyones’ death. Especially a celebrity. I don’t recall Anna Nicole Smith’s doctor ever being sued for the over dose of medication that was found in her system at the time of her death. I almost want to say that it’s racial profiling, but Michael Jackson kinda made his own bed. He has been an addict to pain meds, anti-depressants, and insomnia medications for years. One too many doses caught up with him, and that is what happened in this case. Granted, the doctor should take SOME responsibility for giving Michael the lethal dose that he did. But, if I know Michael Jackson and his history, Michael got what he wanted, WHEN he wanted. If one doctor didn’t agree to it, he just would go and find another who would give him what he wanted, regardless of the consequences. It’s amazing what happens when a celebrity waves a bunch of money in your face. Pretty sad!

As a doctor, he definitely should have had the heart and dignity to turn down Michael’s request for such dangerous medication. For the sake of his moral values as a doctor, and a person, he should have turned him down flat. But, when you’re a doctor, and these celebrities are waving BIG dollars on your face to give them what they want, how do you handle that? A person in their right mind would say ‘no’, regardless of how much profit is to be gained.

It’s not a matter of someone to blame. Doc just got caught up. One providing meds that he shouldn’t have been prescribing or administering outside of a hospital. I’m surprised his license has not been revoked by the board. As a health profession, there is a code of ethics. And, it is sad that there are many have died whether celebrities or not due to malpractice or just plan greed. Please believe prescription drug abuse is on the rise and you docs just writing prescriptions away for heavy narcotics. Not to speak of all of the over 65 yrs of age taking like 10 pills a day because that is what the doctor told them they need to do. I even talked to a lady who was like 80 taking the same number of meds. But, the elderly on a fixed income cannot afford those meds so there little social security does nothing while Medicare is a joke. People need to get informed. Anyhow, there comes a time when a doctor knows he or is over medicating a patient. Lastly, you think these white folks fixing to let this African doctor get away having anything to do with the death of the world’s greatest entertainer. He should have at least kept him alive until after the last concerts. He would have been set, but he wanted to play like he was an Anesthesiologist and didn’t know what the world he was doing.

The point I’m making is, there are Doctors out here always prescribing things they wouldn’t necessarily prescribe to their family, this is why most Dr.s aren’t allowed to operate on family members, and I suspect probably don’t treat those with serious medical issues. Now, knowing what you know about aids, would you blame the girl if you went in, reckless and contracted it? Now, what if she knew she had it, and had sex with you intentionally? Well yes jail time is warranted, but you would still have to bear a lot of the responsibility for your irresponsible behavior. But what if her intention was just to love you? The thing is, I get the feeling that people think this was an intentional act on the part of the Dr. And for those who don’t think so, believe that this was a misdiagnosis on the Dr’s part. Should he have known better? I say yes, but my overall point is, Michael would have eventually found someone to administer this. Addicts stop at nothing to get what they need, and it’s elementary for an addict with money. The results would have probably been the same. In my opinion, jail time serves no purpose. Stripping his licence and heavy probation will be just as effective. This is high profile stuff, the LA DA’s office, lives for!

@ journey..I completely disagree. Your opinion may be a bit biased because you know of the Dr personally. However; Dr. Murray took an oath as a doctor…he should have abided by it. Just because someone asks for a certain drug does not mean you should give it to them especially if you know it can be harmful to them. dr. Murray was present when Michael went into cardiac arrest..it was moments after he had given him the drug.. WHO CARES if Michael was a prescription drug addict..does that give the Dr. the right to feed into his habit and give him MORe prescription drugs just because Michael is shelling out money? Everyone is in it for the money i guess. Point Blank. Secondly, when a medication is administered it is the LAW that a clinician and/or nurse MONITOR the medication in case of adverse reaction. Your church-buddy LEFT MJ alone to GO “return a few phone calls. Yes, MJ did have drug-seeking behavior. Yet, your church-buddy was aware. His main interest in MJ if we’re telling the truth here was “getting paid and I’m out.”
