Some of ya’ll are wild, tho…Nobody asks you to like everyone, but reveling in someone else’s pain is about as low as you can get without actually being the thief.

If TP was a criminal of some sort, then I would join in, but he isn’t. Personally, I don’t understand why men dress in drag and make movies, but until he has some negative affect on my People..I’m proud of him.

I wouldn’t have gone that specific route, but the guy gives back to the community, gives to charities, hires almost exclusively-minority casts (they even have a slideshow showing all of his Black leading women..WHO ELSE EMPLOYS all BLACK WOMEN TO LEAD THEIR FILMS???), and hits on topics that the average Black person can relate to.

I’m just not sure how that is “pandering to White people.” Especially since there are really no White people in his movies, and Blacks constitute the majority of his audience.

ANYONE..give me a reason why Tyler Perry deserves this type of anger/resentment. I’ll leave this window open to see responses, so maybe I can understand why I should hate him.

First of all, I dont think you should hate anyone. This discussion is about one’s own perception and opinion. Now if TP didnt want anyone to possibly dislike his films, then he shouldnt have made them public so most of you need to stop whining about those of US that dont care for his productions. Its called OPINION, so dont ‘hate’ the rest of us for having an opposing one..

I’m not angry at him, dont know him to be such…I do resent the message he sends out. I mean have you guys even seen the same movies I’ve seen of his? What is really up with the dressing in drag to make a point? My father made very good points all my life and not once did he dress like my grandmother to do it.
I resent the fact that everyone and anyone who sees his movies associate them with ALL SOUTHERN PEOPLE. Sorry but my grandmother worked for the school board and not once did she pack a gun, fight with police or go under house arrest to take care of her family..Oh yeah, my grandmother is from the south as well.
I resent the fact that ALL of his movies depict certain stereotypes among black people..The angry dark skin woman who is rescued by the light skin male. The dark skin man that is abusive, mean, and leaves his DARK wife for the lighter woman OR white woman.
The ONE time he showed a dark skin man as the ‘good guy’, he was a single father raising his ghetto, smart mouth little girls by himself.

It shouldnt have been ‘Why Did I Get Married’, it should have been why the fukk did I waste 2 hours of my precious life to see this?
