Regardless of whether one loves or loathes the president, or how one views his intervention in Libya, it is simply a conclusive fact that Barack Obama is now pursuing an illegal conflict. And a timid congress, so inured to our nation’s permanent state of war, isn’t calling him on its illegality.

The War Powers Resolution of 1973 is not an ambiguously worded statute. Passed over a presidential veto in the latter stages of the Vietnam conflict, it was designed to be a check on the executive branch’s authority to enter the United States into far-flung hostilities. Among other things, the resolution requires the president to “terminate any use of United States Armed Forces” after 60 days unless Congress specifically authorizes the action, grants an extension or “is physically unable to meet as a result of an armed attack upon the United States.”

The deadline for getting Congress to authorize military action in Libya came and went on May 20. According to the New York Times, Obama sent a letter to Congressional leaders in which “he did not directly ask for a resolution authorizing the action or concede that it was necessary.” Meanwhile, “Administration officials offered no theory for why continuing the air war in Libya in the absence of Congressional authorization and beyond the deadline would be lawful.”

i am very disappointed in Obama. I had such high hopes for him. Yes i know You cant hold Obama responsible for George bush single-handedly destroying the whole world via the US government in 8 years, nor can you expect him to just fix everything immediately, But I think he could be more proactive in fighting for the middle and lower class, as apposed to keeping the rich rich in order to stay liked by his white counter parts.

All leaders need to be held accountable. The President sworn to uphold the Constitution. I hold him at a higher standard because he’s a Constitutional Lawyer, he knows better

What that has to do with LIBYA. Obama chose to go in there, he could be ignoring it as he did IRAN last year and SYRIA as he does now.

For some reason Blacks refuse to hold black leaders accountable. Especially if they are dynamic, charming and charismatic. I view Obama no differently than Creflo Dollar, TD Jakes or any other black preacher he just has a much bigger congregation. Obama can make the same exact moves as GB and inexplicably, blacks will ignore or excuse it. I really don’t blame Obama for this though. He is the face, but not the architect of any of this economic or military policy. He just signs off to whatever his advisors put before him. If you listen to guys within the Security agencies talk, one thing they will tell you is plans to take over nations like this are on the drawing board for years. They just didn’t decide to go into Libya a few months ago. It takes WAY too much logistical planning for that. It’s no coincidence that Obama kept Gates on as Secy of Defense. He had unfinished work to do.

There was supposed to be a no-fly zone to protect Libyan cities from aerial bombardment. Now the skies are full of airplanes bombing Libyan cities on an unimaginable scale. Something’s gone badly wrong.

How is destroying Libya’s infrastructure a “humanitarian” cause?. A quick search on the web reveals how WRONG the US/NATO is in supporting the “rebels” in Libya at a cost of over a billion dollars and mounting.

* If this invasion of Libya succeeds, gone will be FREE health care, FREE education, interest FREE housing loans, FREE land for farmers so the West thinks they are barbarians that who are so oppressed that they have to be “LIBERATED”.

1. Libya has no national debt.

2. You can buy any car for the factory price.

3. 25% of Libyans are “highly- educated”. Every student has paid fo apartment, food, tuition, books, car and monthly pocket money of 2,500 euros. Students in Libya can study there or abroad and the government gives them a monthly stipend while they are in school and they pay no tuition. If a Libyan needs a surgery that must be done overseas, then the government will pay for that surgery. That is more than the soldiers of the United States military can say. While Libyans enjoy subsidized housing, members of the U.S. military risk foreclosure while they serve their country abroad. Money from oil is directly deposited into the accounts of every Libyan based on oil income.

4. Graduates receive the average pay for their profession if they are unable to find a job.

5. Libyans do not pay for any utilities (electricity, water, telephone, etc.)

6. All heavy labor is done by foreign/guest workers.

7. 40 loaves of bread cost $.15

I wondered where all the vehicles the rebels ride around in came from and why they appear to be just rowdy college students.

You may not agree with the bombing of Tripoli – but you do NOT, as a former American Presidential candidate, go on Libyan national TV and blast your own leadership. Yes, more Black leaders need to be critical of Obama (though a lot of criticism is overblown), but acting as mouthpiece for the Kaddifi regime is not the way to do it.

Anyone who supports this woman for any elected office doesn’t full understand Western politics. And obviously, neither does she.

And no, I don’t think that the PM of Israel should have been treated like some sort of All Father in Congress. Its not uncommon for foreign leaders to address our elected leaders on the floor of Congress, but yesterday was just ridiculous.

I think the former presidential candidate did the right thing on Libya television. Where else could anyone have paid attention to her? It is easy to condemn her when we live in comfort without any bombs dropping over our heads. She risked her life to go there to speak on Libyan TV.
As for Gadhafi and all the negative propaganda against him, you ought to read the truth about him? Maybe after NATO succeeds in killing him or humiliating him, the world will know the truth about him. He has built the most prosperous nation in all of Africa, if anyone cares to know. At the moment they are brainwashing all of us into thinking that he a demon that the world should fear.

NATO is killing hundreds of Libya soldier and without report the figures.
Hundreds of Africans are fleeing and drowning in the Mediterranean.

I am suffering because I do watch, hear, and listen from Libyans who still alive because your bombs not yet targeted them accidently as you always claim. If you are dreaming of our oil, let us sign a contract, but do not kill my people, they are more expensive than oil, at least to all people who respect us. If you are caring about armed rebels who also butchered some Libyans, then you need to kill at least 4 millions who need to live in peace not like rebels who need to fight and butcher whoever does not agree with their disrespectful ideology. My last request from you Americans is to tell your president that he will be considered as a war criminal after he was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize that I think he does not deserve it any more so please tell him now before he kills more people tonight.
