Where are the numbers from just Bush’s first 4 years compared to Obama’s first 3.5 years. I’ll also go out on a limb here and predict that Obama does get another term, those food stamp receipiants numbers will far exceed Bush’s total at the end of 2 terms.

Criticizing the Obama Administration for providing food stamps to families in need is akin to demonizing the Red Cross for providing food and shelter to survivors of an earthquake or tornado.

There is a fundamental disconnect in the “cause and effect relationship” logic of these conservative, non-empathetic, chest-thumping politicians and pundits.

Furthermore, the presumption that only unemployed people need food stamps is completely baseless and perpetuates the ignorance-based stereotype of people in need as being lazy parasites on society — no doubt a deliberate tactical decision by the callous Gingrich.

Suggesting that food stamp usage is a “black issue” is equally absurd. Does Newt also regard HIV as a “gay issue”? Immigration as a “Hispanic issue”? Terrorism as an “arab issue”?

Naturally, the Republicans make claims against the President and their foes which on the surface sound reasonable to their supporting base but have no actual basis in truth.
