What would be nice is if a writer or director would make a story of her life or the life of her family. At 119 years old this is one life that should not go to the grave in silence.

Yes, this is racist. If it was a white woman they would not make her jump through hoops to be in the book. Second, my mother is about 80′ish and I sent for her birth certificate in Arkansas. Guess what, my mother birth was not recorded so, my mother doesn’t have a birth certificate. Back then, when women had babies, the delivery was done at home by midwife. I agreed with the person that mention putting doc**ents in the bible. My mother does that all the time. My thing is, you don’t need man approval about nothing. even without a birth certificate there should be a paper trail on her that should verify her age. was she on the 1900 census ? does she have a marriage certicate stating her age in the year she was married ? did her children have birth certificates ( on mine it has my mother’s age at the time of my birth) ? did she have siblings ? even if they didnt have birth certificates, if she had a younger sibling whose obituary listed birth prior to 1900 that should be good evidence, since everybody cant be in on some vast conspiracy to get her into the guiness book of world records. its not that serious.

It took me two minutes to go on Ancestry.com and look. Pretty sure I found her in the 1910 Census, married and living in Jackson, Mississippi. Not sure of her maiden name, or I’d check 1900. But it really isn’t that hard, Guinness!

I check my ANCESTORS on my DAD’S side and I found out that my grandfather was OLDER, and he didn’t have a birth certificate either………

During the 1800 and early 1900 there were a great many people of all races born at home and have no birth certificate. It’s unbeleivable how some people try to make every thing about race.

Who cares about the Guinness record? The more important issue is that this amazing woman is alive and well AND she lived to see the United States being led by a BLACK PRESIDENT!

p.s. Guinness is RIGHT for not including her in their book. The criteria that they use is based solely on proper doc**entation so, without it, nothing gets listed in their book. Remember, it’s the “book of WORLD RECORDS” so it’s only right that they reject her claim.

They don’t refuse to recognize her as the oldest woman due to “slave laws” – slavery ended 30 years before she was born. They don’t recognize her as the oldest because she doesn’t have a birth certificate.

Now, would I recognize her as the oldest if I was in charge of Guinness? Yes. She appears on a census at 8 years old and she has a letter from the Social Security administration.

But it has nothing to do with her being black, or “slave laws”. Why do so many black people have such a victim mentality that the race card is pulled at every opportunity? It isn’t “honkies” keeping your race down, it’s your own “Dat’s Raysis!” mentality.

From reading the article and watching the clip, no where did i see she cared or even wanted Guinness to recognize her age. She is 119 years old, makes her own bed, in good health, takes no medicine, that alone is celebration to her and inspiration to me.

Well, I think they could make an exception if they really wanted to. As a former Recruiter of the Armed forces, I have to recollect on some of the guidelines we had. There were doc**ents we could take “in lieu” of certain things, AS LONG AS they were official and the pertinent information was on it. I feel the Guiness Book can do the same thing.

I pray they do. Perhaps in time they may, but it is just a matter of going through the proper channels. All in all the lady says she is just happy to be alive. She is a blessed woman, regardless! May she live many more years in good health.
