Today we are asking you a stomach pleasing question: “What is your favorite Black restaurant in your respective city or the country?
As I’m based out of New York City, it’s a close tie between Amy Ruth’s and Melba’s in Harlem. Those are two great restaurants that provide you with a classic soul food experience. I’ve also been to chicken and waffle places in Indianapolis and Roscoe’s in LA and liked them as well. But I haven’t been to many other states to eat some good Black food. I’m eager to hear what people in places like Memphis, Alabama, South Carolina and New Orleans amongst others have to say.

Mr. and Mrs. G’s in San Antonio, TX. Only one problem, they close to early and aren’t open on weekends and they shut it down for family vacations and special occassions. I’ve been known to play hookey from work just to get there..

Damn that was some good food!
I ate lunch there my first day in LAN and went back and had dinner that evening and lunch and dinner there, everyday, for the rest of my stay in town
When I got my box and got out to the car, it was dark and I was like “why did they give me French Bread when I ordered the fried fish!??!”
Turns out, it was fish. The pieces were so big that they looked like loaves of bread and were hanging out of the sides of the container…LOL

Suburban Seafood on Marlboro Pike, right across the D.C. border in Capital Heights.
They have great soul food and seafood.
Levi’s too, various locations.
To everybody talking bad about soul food, just like anything else in life, there’s nothing wrong with it in moderation!

None of it. Either caribbean, african, or some other type where the food is fresh. I prefer organic. Haven’t enough of our people died from eating this garbage? The picture doesn’t even look appetizing. Put something better than this on your forks, after all we deserve healthier food choices.

The best in Vegas as far as i’m concerned is H and H Bar-b-q . The best ribs anywhere hands down . The give u plenty on the “Starvin” meal for ten bucks u get two sides , bread , and a gang of tender azz ribs w/ just enough sauce. They have pork chops smothered , turkey wings and greens , oh and the fried pickles are the bizness !!!!!!

TallPaul7 Too much fat and junk in it. You may be right. But I will tell you I have had green swith smoked turkey legs and they are pretty good. But I still like smoke ham hocks or whatever pork they put in it.
But besides my late Aunt Marian. My favorite places are Glady’s in Chicago. Now closed because she passed away. I hear the family is thinking of reopening. Soul Queen on the southside of Chicago. BJ’s on southside is OK in a pinch.

Several years ago I attended a fraternity convention in Houston and the brothers gave us a list of places all of which I tried. Now here goes. Frenchy’s in teh 5th ward was unbelieveable especially their wings at 1 am in teh morning. nThelma Bar B Q right off from downtown near China town wa sincredible. get there early they closed at 5Pm. Mama’s on Main Street near the Reliant center wa steh best in US. Mama makes her menu daily on a card board.
Iwas at the Superbowl this year in Miami and got the best conch at Conch town on 17th ave Northwest. be leary of the neighborhood but I grew up near there so i took my chances.
In DC there is nthat restaurant on Florida street that is good. But you have to try the fish samiches in the sanck shop at Langston Golf Course off of the Anacosta river. I swear it is teh worse golf course in the nation. But it is worth the round just for the fish sandwich when you make the turn at the 9th hole.
