Is “J.J.” smoking that DYN-O-MITE?

When I saw Jimmie Walker explaining why he wasn’t voting for President Barack Obama during his appearance on the “O’Reilly Factor,” I couldn’t help but wonder whether he was puffing some of that real explosive ish before he walked on that Fox News set.

Now, let’s be clear: Just because you’re Black doesn’t mean you should be pressured to vote for or support another Black man. Hell, I’m Black and I’d rather see Robin Thicke on the U.S. Supreme Court than Clarence Thomas (last time I checked, the singer has a strong penchant for Black folks, especially sistas)!

Now, back to King DYN-O-MITE!

He said that Obama, a man who he has never voted for, is a nice guy but is not the right person for the job. OK, he has a right to his opinion, but I do question his elementary logic behind why he said he doesn’t plan to vote for the 44th President in November.

“Barack Obama is more like a Tony Roberts type of guy,” Walker told O’Reilly. “You feel real good and happy and everything and then you go home and there’s a foreclosure sign on your door. And you just go, ‘Wait a minute. I just had this great meeting with this guy. He made me feel real good.’ And I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I don’t think he’s a good guy for the job we have to do.”

Really?

Well, according to the Kansas City Star, the number of American homeowners facing foreclosures dropped 11 percent in the first half of 2012 from the same time last year. The reason? Robust efforts by state and federal agencies to help homeowners avoid defaulting on their mortgages.  Of course, millions of Americans are facing the prospect of having an eviction notice taped on their doors, but then again, the housing crisis began years before Obama took office.

I do agree with Walker when he says that Obama is a “nice guy”…but a miracle worker he is not.

WATCH J.J. On “The O’Reilly Factor here:

Then, of course, to spark the racial flames, O’Reilly points out that Walker, being a ‘Black man,’ would evoke a strong response from other Black Americans because of his views. And true to form, Walker played right in to O’Reilly’s ill-informed psychology that Blacks are a monolithic group of ignoramuses hell bent on voting for Black folks just because they are Black.

“You just can’t blindly vote for somebody just because…sometimes even a brother, you have to let him go,” Walker said.

So we’re blind now, “J.J.”? Perhaps we blind Negros are voting for Obama with more than 90 percent of our votes because:

1) Obama Signed The Crack Cocaine Bill (Fair Sentencing Act)

Crack users are disproportionately sentenced to longer jail terms than those who use powder. This unfair-sentencing practice has historically punished African Americans more severely than their White counterparts who tend to use cocaine. With the signing of the Fair Sentencing Act, though, President Obama narrowed that disparity significantly.

2) Obama Expanded Funding For HBCUs

In February of this year, President Obama signed an executive order increasing funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to $850 million over the next 10 years. The funding is being administered through the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities that was, ironically, started by the late Ronald Reagan.

3) Obama Awarded $1.2 Billion To Black Farmers

President Obama’s administration oversaw the $1.2 billion settlement awarded to Black farmers who have been denied loans and assistance by the Agricultural Department for decades.

We are not blind, J.J., but you are, and the only “brotha” that needs to be let go is you.

Black folks will not react negatively because Walker is not voting for “the brotha,” but we will give him the side eye, because it seems that the “brotha” in him wore off when “Good Times” went off the air.

Exhibit A: Relationship with Conservative Commentator Ann Coulter

In a 2010 interview, Walker said that Coulter was a ‘friend” and “extremely talented”:

“I have nothing but the highest respect for her, and I’m thoroughly impressed with everything she does – whether she’s writing Sarah Palin stuff or doing whatever,” he continued. “I’m thoroughly impressed with her.”

Was he impressed with her “Negros With Guns” column, where suggested that the National Rifle Association was a friend of Black Americans? This is the same organization that successfully lobbied the Florida legislation to pass the “Stand Your Ground” law that George Zimmerman is using to justify his unjust killing of Trayvon Martin?

Or perhaps he respected her “talented” description of Herman Cain and GOP Black voters, when she said, “Our Blacks are so much better than their Blacks,” .

Ann Coulter is a wizard at misconstruing facts to accommodate her ignorance. And Walker’s close relationship with the Blond Conservative Quote Bomber seems to be wearing off on him.

Based on Walker’s comments  on the O’Reilly Factor and his suspect relationships, Walker does not seem to be against Obama because he is informed. In fact, he seems to be against Obama because he is out of touch with the facts and the man who stares back at him in the mirror each day.

Somehow, I think his mama, “Florida,” would agree with me, when I say that “J.J.” makes me want to scream, “Damn!”:
