St. Louis Police Release Video Of Kajieme Powell Killing That Appears At Odds With Their Story
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said Tuesday that both of the officers opened fire on Powell when he came within a three or four feet of them holding a knife “in an overhand grip.” But the newly released cell phone footage undermines the statement, showing Powell approaching the cops, but not coming as close as was reported, with his hands at his side. Rapper Gucci Mane Sentenced To Three Years And Three Months On Federal Gun Charge
Rapper Gucci Mane was sentenced Wednesday to serve three years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to a federal firearms charge several months ago. The 34-year-old, whose real name is Radric Davis, pleaded guilty in May to a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after reaching an agreement with prosecutors. The judge also sentenced him to serve three years of supervised release with extra limitations on his travel during that time and to pay a $5,000 fine. Read more.

The parents of Michael Brown, the unarmed 18-year-old who was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, will attend a rally in support of Eric Garner, the Staten Island man who died after being placed in a chokehold by police last month. Around 15,000 people are expected to attend the Saturday demonstration. Greater St. Mark Family Church in St. Louis, Missouri was a safe haven for wounded protesters from nearby Ferguson demanding justice in the Michael Brown shooting. Reports from about 12:45pm on Twitter and Instagram stated that it had been raided by St. Louis County Police. Storman Academy, a school on church property, was being used as a first-aid shelter for protesters injured by tear gas as well as a place for organizers to plan strategy, but its charitable efforts apparently caused it to face unwanted attention from the police.
