President Barack Obama gave  the keynote address Saturday evening at the The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Phoenix Awards banquet, a black-tie affair at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The CBCF’s Annual Legislative Conference gathers members of the Congressional Black Caucus and others interested involved in politics and policy to Washington, D.C. each year for several days of meetings, panel discussions, and celebrations.

Among those who were given Phoenix Awards this year were Radio One chairperson and founder Catherine L. Hughes, civil rights leader Wade Henderson,  boxer and activist Muhammad Ali; editor, writer and producer Susan L. Taylor; and chairman of FE Holdings, Inc.,Robert L. Wright, Jr. NewsOne is a part of the Radio One family of media outlets.
