Funnyman Bill Cosby (pictured) isn’t doing very much laughing these days as alleged sexual assault victims continue to crawl out of the woodwork to point the finger at him as their aggressor.
The performer canceled a Sunday show in Boston, reportedly cited an impending snow storm. On the same day Cosby X’ed out his performance, a new accuser, former actress and model named Helen Grumpel (aka Helen Selby) held a press conference, outing him as a sexual predator who drugged her and made unwelcome sexual advances towards her during the 80’s, according to The Boston Globe.
Gumpel is the latest alleged Cosby victim in a string of about thirty-something to claim sexual misconduct on the part of the 77-year-old comedian. “America’s Dad” has denied all of the allegations against him–some of which that have gone back as far as the 1960’s when he was still a newlywed.
During her news conference, Gumpel alleged that the father of five made lewd advances towards her when she appeared in a 1988 episode of his iconic TV show, “The Cosby Show.” According to Gumpel, she received a call-back and met with Cosby in his dressing room. He asked the actress to sit on the couch and handed her a drink. The Connecticut resident claims that Cosby then put his crotch in her face.
“I’m an advocate for the women who have been drugged and raped by him. I needed to speak now because he is so arrogant. We can’t let him go through with these concerts. He is a rapist,” Gumpel said at her downtown Boston press conference held at a hotel.
Gumpel held the press event, after Cosby had canceled his show at Boston’s Wilbur Theater where two feminist groups reportedly threatened to protest.
Meanwhile Andrew Wyatt, a spokesman for Cosby, said his cancellation had zilch to do with the protest threats. He said that Cosby is concerned with the “treacherous” weather and was working with the theater to reschedule.
Since Cosby’s alleged accusers began to surface last year, he has cancelled a few shows. He has also been heckled at a few of the performance dates he did manage to keep.
