The Oregon State Police Medical Examiner confirmed Saturday that suspected Umpqua Community College gunman Chris Harper Mercer died from an apparent suicide.

Two days after the mass shooting, Donald Trump spoke on the tragedy, arguing that guns aren’t the problem — the real issue, Trump said, is the lack of mental health services available in the nation. The Republican presidential candidate also goes on to defend the Second Amendment, in which he said “No matter what you do, you will always have problems… but it’s not the guns. It’s the people, it’s these sick people.”

President Barack Obama addressed the nation shortly after the shooting, demanding “concrete steps” to prevent more mass shootings. After condemning the act, Obama said the American people have become numb to the outlandish amount of mass shootings this year.

An investigation into the shooting continues.
