A Georgia grandmother is demanding answers after her grandson with special needs was allegedly found hanging by his belt from the chalkboard as a form of punishment administered by his teacher, reports the New York Daily News.
Tracy Davis says the principal at Shoal Creek Elementary School in Conyers, Georgia found the 5-year-old in the disturbing position last week, reports WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta.
From the NYDN:
“He was in distress because he was screaming and hollering,” Davis said.
The Division of Family and Children Services interviewed her grandson and determined that this was not the first time the teacher had used this punishment on the boy.
“I don’t want those teachers to ever have the privilege to teach again,” she said.
The school district released a statement to WSB-TV 2, saying, “Rockdale County Public Schools takes all matters of this kind very seriously and is currently conducting a full investigation.”
