Controversial “Make America White Again” billboard signs in Benton, Tennessee, have been removed after rousing opposition from the local community.
The signs were part of a campaign effort by Rick Tyler, a local business owner, running as an Independent for the U.S. House in Tennessee against the incumbent, Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tennessee).
A Kiwanis club in neighboring Ocoee announced on Facebook they would no longer meet at Tyler’s Whitewater Grill restaurant after the offensive signs were posted along Highway 411.
According to The Hill, Tyler’s campaign website offers other billboard options such as, “Fight federal tyranny / Stop the Muslim invasion,” and “Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be miscegenators.”
Tyler told WRCB that he has no hatred in his heart for “people of color,” but just wants to return to better days like in the “1960s, ‘Ozzie and Harriet,’ ‘Leave it to Beaver’ time when there were no break-ins, no violent crime, no mass immigration.”
