New York — The head of a city taxi-drivers union is urging hacks to use “racial profiling” when deciding whether to pick up passengers, after a Queens livery driver was shot by an apparently Hispanic gunman over the weekend.
The brutal attack was captured by the vehicle’s security camera — which yesterday led to a tip that helped cops ID a suspect, who has not yet been caught. He was not identified, but a source said he’s 22, from Queens and has a sealed police record.
“Profile your passengers; it’s very important,” said Fernando Mateo, president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, after Saturday’s shooting of Trevor Bell, 53, in South Ozone Park.
