asha bandele, a NewsOne Senior Editor, is multiple award-winning journalist and author. The recipient of the National Book Foundation Award among a number of other awards, asha is a New York Times best-selling author of seven books. Her eighth and ninth books are forthcoming from Random House/One World and The New Press. A lifelong advocate, asha has led or been on the lead team of several political campaigns, all of which were successful challenges to racist inequities. A primary focus of her work has been the impact of the American punishment system on children and families, and curriculum development for young people who are targeted for harm.
