Atlanta will use signature matching to verify petitions for a ballot initiative on whether to build a police training center called “Cop City." The practice has been described as racist.

Members of the ACLU, the NAACP and various civil rights organizations are calling on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to change the way they investigate and classify individuals protesting the controversial Cop City training center in Atlanta. 

This was never just about winning elections. We believe the right candidates championing the right policies can use policy to change lives for the better. That's what makes these Metro Atlanta wins so special – and what makes the things happening here more than deserving of national attention and replication across the country.  

Dubbed "cop city" by local organizers and some community members are making a last push to get the council to vote no on the proposal.
