On Cyber Monday, there is no shortage of Black-owned businesses to buy your holiday gifts from.

Black Friday officially kicked off the 2021 holiday shopping season during a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting consumers' spending habits considerably, including Black buying power.

Cyber Monday provides a chance to support Black-owned companies offering online discounts and sales for their goods during the holiday season.

Is buying gifts for your loved ones leaving you broke?

Sales in brick and mortar stores fell from $11.6 billion in 2014 to $10.4 billion in 2015. That's an overall 10 percent decrease in sales, a consequence of both stores offering sales days earlier and online sales that allowed consumers to shop from the comfort of their homes.

So far, the holiday shopping season is off to a weak start, with sales for Thanksgiving and Black Friday up only 2.3% over last year’s numbers.
