A Grand Rapids judge announced Monday that a former Michigan police officer who killed an unarmed Black motorist will stand trial for murder.

A growing number of social media reports claim the Grand Rapids police officer who killed Patrick Lyoya following a traffic stop over an alleged misdemeanor moving violation is named Christopher Paul Schurr.

The funeral for Patrick Lyoya, an unarmed black man shot in the head by Grand Rapids police, will be held at 11 am today at the Renaissance Church of God in Christ in Michigan.

Autopsy results show the Grand Rapids cop who shot Patrick Lyoya "pressed" his gun into the back of the unarmed Black man's head while firing a single "contact shot," world-renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz said alongside Ben Crump.

They have safety concerns for their community following reports of bias policing.
